If you’ve reached the point in the hobby where it just makes you miserable and whiney, it’s best to give it up. You’re doing yourself a disservice wasting time and money on something you don’t enjoy. No hobby should be this hard to keep up with, Hot Wheels, Star Wars, LEGO, model trains fans don't suffer like this... Amazon has been there for me the last few years. I miss Toys R Us like Rey misses Eddie Hot wheels collectors have all checked out for the same reason. Too many lines. Too many cars. Too many exclusives. I used to be one and I still remember all the interest in the line until it just became to be too much. Now you only have a few die hards left who collect the uber rare cars as an investment. The casual fans are mainly all gone. I see this happening with wwe. The main reason however is not selection. The casual fan has no idea what is what however and don't know what is coming out. They just buy who they like but I can tell you that I see more people putting figures back on the shelves after picking them up for 2 reasons. 1. "You already have 2 roman reigns" 2. 20 dollars? No way put that back. So if the casual fan already has all the superstars and is no longer willing to pay the inflated price than mattel has a problem. This all leads back to the fact that in the last 30 years most hard-core collectors have all picked up a darth vader, a spiderman, a spawn, a michelangelo, an optimus prime, a duke, and a skeletor. There is nothing left. For me it is just a dinosaucers(riders) line that interests me. The problem will sort itself out naturally when people just stop buying. I do believe the price point will become a problem soon. Maybe they will need to eliminate the plastic in the packaging.... |

I'm not ready to check out, but I am ready to re-evaluate my collecting habits. For years I stayed away from wrestling figures because I knew how deep it could get, but when AEW started the Unrivaled line I had to jump in. That first year was a nightmare at retail, but since I was getting those so infrequently, I started dabbling into Mattel's WWE stuff.
First it was the MOTU WWE stuff. A niche line that can be stripped down to look like old Remco figures. Harmless. Then came Ultimate Hollywood Hogan. then Super 7 threw their hat in the ring and announced NJPW figures. So of course, I wanted to flesh out that roster with the guys that left and went to WWE. And since I'm buying WWE figures now, then I dove into the Legends line. Next thing I know I have an entire Billy bookcase FILLED with just WWE figures next to another case with my AEW/NJPW figures and my misc shelves. I ran out of room in like 3 years. Throw in the Retros revival and now Big Rubber Guys and I'm looking at these shelves thinking "who has to go into storage". And that's why I stayed away for so long.

Nope. Def don't sell until you have thought this over for a longer stretch of time. waves and waves go by where there isn't anything I'm interested in or sometimes only one or two. but It doesn't make me want to check out. Really fond of my Mattel stuff.

I have to say though, as a hardcore TMNT collector since 1988 who had might as well be direct depositing my paychecks to NECA, I honestly don’t think there’s a limit on how many times you can get people to buy those four turtles. |

See this is where I think sometimes Mattel/WWE miss the mark; Because WWE should be regularly creating new stars, which can then translate to action figures, T-shirts, video games, etc.... And yet, when the new LA Knight figures eventually hit store shelves..... how many per-case do you think there will be? One, maybe two..... And probably 3-4 (or more) Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, John Cena........ WWE should be elevating/creating MORE new big names, and Mattel should be capitalizing on it MORE too.... |

I haven't checked out but I'm really bored with the same old, same old and I'm not really keen on rebuying so many figures because upgrades.
To me, it's stuff like --
Mattel: "Hey, we finally designed a figure of the architect of the nWo and a staple of 90's wrestling, Easy E - Eric Bischoff!"
Also, Mattel: "Now give us $150 and take this toy wrestling ring too that you probably already bought."

Also, Mattel: "Now give us $150 and take this toy wrestling ring too that you probably already bought." unfortunately for collectors, that’s business. they made the new gen ring and while there were enough backers to cover costs, they’re obviously going to try to squeeze every dollar they can out of those molds. they pair the rings with figures to entice people to buy it. |

Yeah but there really is a limit. Because unlike wwe fans, turtles fans don't have to have every outfit Leonardo wore. I can't complain though. I love all the retro packaging coming out from multiple brands. I just know this is the last run. Noone will buy the same figures again in 10 years. Kids just don't watch cartoons anymore. Definitely enjoying this last ride for gijoe/turtles/motu/transformers. Good Times albeit an expensive time to buy |

With my situation I'm happy with the collection that I built with the help of my friend. Mattel has been running the line well over 10 years and it seems we are going through a 2nd cycle of stuff we already have but updated with added joints etc. The novelty seems to be worn off but every now and then there's that figure you will come across that feels fresh in my case Elite 104 Dekota Kai (fascinated by her).
I'm in a hibernation faze of collecting. Mattel won't be able to outdo themselves with their initial presentation early on in the line.

cut back by 75% , bored with same talent over and again, legends deals are so thin. main roster talent is rarely made. i can see why many people have moved on from it. plus the prices arent justifying the product really in alot of releases.

Still have things on the list that im interested in. They are making a few embarrassing errors as of late though, today's showing of Roman Reigns is an example. They still keep churning out those embarrassing Bret Hart face scans, while their elite squad salesperson tries to convince viewers that the face scan is spot on.
That new packaging is terrible and is going to limit what I get going forward.
And possibly most of all, they lost Randy Savage while leaving so many of his looks on the table. One they absolutely had to do for me was Savage in his WMV attire.
