Something weird seems to be going on at Mattel right now. I don’t really think so they just pushed back the CC and cancelled a series lol. Didn’t they extend the licence with WWE not so long ago. they didn’t cancel CC Steve said it’s still coming this year

They also pushed back macho Man, never said a word or addressed it, then it’s cancelled. We ask no one answers, then in a Q & A it’s brought up and they say “finally someone asks me”….. Must have missed the entire thread about it or the few questions asked in the Q&A thread. I think that’s why people are hesitant because there hasn’t been any update Exactly what you said! 👆🏻

I didn't take it that he was being serious. If that's the case, he probably didn't think other people would either, but people still keep referencing it.

I’m gonna go ahead and start this conspiracy theory. SDCC Ali not selling out caused them to push back CC Piper/Steele and cancel WM40 basics. They have too much inventory at Mattel Creations to launch another set of UE two packs and they don’t want a basic Ali option preventing people from buying the UE. For a conspiracy pulled out from nothing, this is probably closer to the truth than “TKO has ruined everything”. I know when they announced this basic line I was like “uhhh, did I miss something? Have we even seen these? Also wow, you’re just going to do ref Ali for $10?” I won’t pretend that this hasn’t been a rough year for Mattel though. Two failed crowdfunding projects, pricey exclusive not selling as well as previous ones, cancelled figures lines, MOTU Origins all but dead at retail for over a year. The list goes on and on.

I don’t think we ever even saw the prototypes for these? I believe some were mixed in that display when the basics were show. I remember Batista and Roman being shown. I would imagine the WM Roman and the battle pack Roman with LP would differ much, if any at all. Only REAL loose here is the Ali, just because it would be nice to see how that one came out as a basic also. Oh well, hopefully they fit it into a line somewhere down the road. Still curious as to what happened with the set

End of the day, I don’t think this or any of the other weird cancellations/delays has been in doom and gloom mode yet.
Honestly I think the Pannini deal getting killed is probably far more shocking than anything that happened between WWE & Mattel. And I’m not even a card guy but I’m familiar with Pannini through a friend who sold cards for a few years.

Yeah, this constantly cancelling crap is making me want to get out of the game. What in he world is going on. If a basic assortment of 4 including Batista and Roman is the thread keeping you collecting... Start knitting, pal!

Did they also quietly cancel Funk or did he just sell out upon hearing the news of his passing? He’s no longer up for preorder on RSC or a competitor’s site.

Barbie (and Hot Wheels) has been carrying Mattel for decades if we’re being honest with ourselves. But I was talking about the toy lines and the properties Mattel puts into toy aisles. Doesn’t matter how well the movie did, that’s not going to increase the output in the WWE, MOTU or Jurassic Park lines.

The Wrestlemania ones were always the best figures which included special attires. I am a Wrestlemania basic collector for years and was really looking forward to this set which was going to include first ever Reigns with red boots from WM39, first ever Rollins from WM38 and Ali as referee from WM1.
