WrestleMania 40 basics has just been cancelled completely and sellers advised to refund pre orders
This follows the CC Piper & Steele set being removed this week with no real update and several U.K. Mattel lines being pulled.
What is going on??

MATTEL WWE WRESTLEMANIA 40 SERIES CANCELLED: @ringsidec has notified those who pre-ordered that the set has been cancelled. The set included Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Batista and Muhammad Ali.

Bummer. I have no desire or need for a UE Ali, a basic would have been a welcome addition to my collection. While I didn’t see any Mania basics at retail this year, they are by far the most available figures at the WrestleMania store every year. Hope we get an answer as to why, and another opportunity for a Basic Ref Ali.

It did seem weird they were making a basic ref Ali so close to his SDCC. Especially considering that UE is still available.

I thought the CC Piper & Steele set was getting a later pre order date. Don’t think it’s been removed just changed the pre order date.

I don’t recall WM40 basics ever being officially revealed think it went up for pre order and they didn’t show protos of the series. Yeah I know RSC listed it but Mattel didn’t show em at SDCC or anywhere else. I wonder if RSC just jumped the gun on this set. |

I’m gonna go ahead and start this conspiracy theory. SDCC Ali not selling out caused them to push back CC Piper/Steele and cancel WM40 basics. They have too much inventory at Mattel Creations to launch another set of UE two packs and they don’t want a basic Ali option preventing people from buying the UE.

I wonder if the endeavor deal is putting some legend figure contracts in peril and it will lead to ultimately less old schoolers. While I highly doubt this is the case, it would suck and also give me a chance to make a break from Mattel. |

They also pushed back macho Man, never said a word or addressed it, then it’s cancelled. We ask no one answers, then in a Q & A it’s brought up and they say “finally someone asks me”….. Must have missed the entire thread about it or the few questions asked in the Q&A thread. I think that’s why people are hesitant because there hasn’t been any update |
