Yesterday my Survivor Series Shawn Michaels and 3 Kevin Owens Elites came in, and I got to say, I'm rather happy with these figures! Some minor complaints here and there, but nothing that I couldn't fix myself. I actually meant to get this thread up yesterday, but between work and then SmackDown last night, I didn't have time to take photos until today. Anyways, here's some pics for you to enjoy, as well as my personal thoughts on each figure. Thanks for viewing!
Shawn Michaels
It's funny how this attire (and even the haircut, to some extent) is infamous amongst many wrestling fans, but because it also represents a big moment in HBK's career, it's been a big want of many collectors, myself included. It feels great to finally have an '02 Michaels to add to the RA collection. I think Mattel nailed the colors on the attire pretty well, and the headscan is also really good in my opinion. I might pick up a few more of this figure to make some custom '02-'03 HBKs in the future. I already have a few ideas in mind...
Kevin Owens
I think it should go without saying at this point, but I am a huge mark for Kevin Owens. He's definitely my favorite current wrestler, one of the wrestlers that I have the most figures of, and the collection continues to grow! I was very much looking forward to having the "Relentless" attire in figure form (officially, anyways. I made a custom of this attire a year ago), as it's one of my personal favorite attires of his. That said, this figure is pretty good, but unfortunately, it has a few flaws. It's odd to me that they opted to use the Elite 91 KO head instead of the new one they made for his Elite 101 figure, but I don't mind that too much. The E91 head is pretty decent, and it's painted very well on this figure. However, what did bug me was the lack of the "FIGHT" text that's supposed to be on the side of left leg. How did Mattel miss that? They've released Owens in these shorts a few times (E53 and E61 both had it, as did one of his Basic figures), so I can't help but wonder how or why it was left out. He's also missing the pterodactyl tattoo on the inside of his left bicep, as well as the hockey skull on his left hand (E101 had both of these tats). Luckily, since I have a couple of spare E101 KOs, I did do a bit of part swapping between this Survivor Series Elite and one of my extra E101 Elites, which you will see in the later pics. I also added the left leg from a spare E53 to fix the missing logo on his shorts. Once I fixed these issues, this figure became a 10/10 for me!
Here's a comparison between the Survivor Series Elite and my custom I made last year of this specific Owens attire.
Here's what the Owens figure looks like after I fixed it up. Looks much better if you ask me! The main body and the head are from E101, but I added the shirt and right leg from the new SS Elite, and the left leg from a spare E53 Owens. This was to give it the missing tattoos on his left arm and the missing "FIGHT" text on his left leg. If you're wondering why I didn't just do a simple arm swap, it's because the T-Rex tattoo on his left bicep is aligned differently on the SS Elite and E101, so that's why I opted to just switch the shirts and legs around.
Comparison between the fixed up Owens and the figure as it comes normally. I plan on fixing up the other one as well, and maybe even customizing it into the red and black "KO Show" attire he wore in late 2020.
Here he is with my Custom Day 1 Seth Freakin' Rollins. Love how these two look side by side.
And last but not least, here's a group shot of my most recent Owens Elites. FAR from all of them, but like I said, just the most recent ones. The three on the right are customs, as you might've figured.
BONUS!
Speaking of customs, here's a custom Elimination Chamber 2022 Seth Freakin' Rollins Elite I finished up about a week ago! This was one of the few Rollins attires I didn't have in figure form, which is surprising, given that I quite dig the gold tights. This was also my first time painting with metallic paint, and overall I think it came out great! Much like with Owens, I'll have to post an updated image of my complete Rollins Elite collection.
And of course, here's an obligatory group shot of the stuff I got yesterday (minus the third KO I got, which I will be keeping MOC, in case you're wondering), plus the custom Rollins. Hope you enjoyed! Thanks again for viewing!
