Have just seen the Rougeaus up, not a fan of the bent arm he uses, if it doesn’t have an action, why use this arm?? Otherwise I think they’ll look great in with Hasbro/retro collections!

I did too. I love what Mitch is doing. I have them all except the 1/100 yellow Godfather.

The one with articulation in the elbow? yeah, i don’t see a point to using those if they don’t have an action like mattel and retros do

Different wants then. I like seeing that as it actually looks like a Hasbro. I’m not playing with these so it doesn’t need an action for me. Hell- even as a kid, I rarely used the actions as they were more likely to do damage to figures or would require setting things up in a certain way. I guess I was chain wrestling even back in the day lol

As mentioned in the other threads, I am back in the swing of reviewing figures. It was my goal to up my game a bit so I’ve included a new feature to give everyone a better look at the figures in close detail (I think everyone here will really enjoy it). WFigs isn’t able to embed Inatagram Reels so please click the link(s) to check out that new feature! 360 VIEW: Duke The Dumpster Droese http://instagram.com/p/C5OSSovrTx2 The Good: http://instagram.com/p/C5OTcdGr_rT Though his time in the WWF was short, I really enjoyed the Duke The Dumpster Droese character as a youngster. This figure from Hasttel Toy really captures the cartoonish nature of the Hasbro style more so than nearly any retro company today. The trash can with the removable lid was a nice accessory that really makes this figure feel more complete. It has a nice metallic finish to it which makes it pop more than the figure itself. I also really like the shape of this figure. It feels like a unique in between from the “standard” fit retro body vs a bulkier heavy guy (fat or muscle). The Bad: Like most Grapplers and Gimmicks releases, the features look too soft and not well defined. Despite the smooth look, we are still not getting actual smooth texture. I suggest watching the 360 video if you haven’t already. This is on my wishlist of things Mitch needs to change by the end of 2024. He is established enough that he can spend more money for better results and take more time getting things released to customers.
Additionally, the trash can interior should have been virtually any other color. Tan is such a weird choice. It’s not something that is a dealbreaker but it adds to the reputation of Grapplers and Gimmicks cutting corners.
The seams are better with this compared to The Godwinns. Still not perfect but it’s a step in the right direction.
So How Do They Measure Up?: I’ve decided to start putting the comparison photos with the back of the card posts as a little Easter egg. If you swipe through you’ll get to see how Duke/Mike Droese holds up next to each major Retro figure maker. http://instagram.com/p/C5ORxiCLzgm *Note that I am no longer including photos of figures from Rush* Final Verdict: Overall I’m happy to have Duke in my NewGen collection. He is very close to how I would have pictured Hasbro making him. This figure is good enough for me continue supporting G&G (so long as they continue to show improvements).
It’s great that you’ve found time to do these posts, I enjoy reading/ looking at them. One suggestion, maybe try doing the comparison pics with the figure next to the original Hasbro that it is inspired by (if you have it), as well as the other lines. I feel like this would give a better representation of comparative scale of the figure….i appreciate that is more difficult with some lines which don’t seem to base figures on hasbros as much, but G&G clearly do. And it still seems like most companies are struggling to get a decent scale match to hasbros, for example Booger and Bulldogs are great looking figures but still come up a bit thin/small scale wise. But this is definitely not a criticism of your reviews, just more to do with my own interest! Thank you! I had meant to respond sooner but kept forgetting. I’ll definitely try to include the comparison pic of the inspiration first as I have every Hasbro and Retro. Though in the case of Duke…who would you say he is modeled after most? Agreed that scale seems to be so difficult. Even if things aren’t accurate in terms of scaling to a persons actual size, at least make them as close to a Hasbro as you possibly can get.

But, I do like them to be clear to have an action feature so they look like Hasbros. I like that the Duke pretty much looks like Bret Hart's body/wind back punch mech too. Hate how half of Zombie's now just look like generic figures.

Got the Carlito. I don't think it's as bad as everyone seemed to be saying. I wasn't going to get him at first, as I don't have an early 2000's setup, but then he came back, so I thought I could just put him on my current retros roster. There is a little bit of blue paint that got on his torso from the shirt, but it's not too much. Pic below.

FWIW, I know a lot of people take offense to Mitch stealing designs so blatantly. I am torn on this. On one hand I do like the “remix” of familiar parts. On the other hand, it wouldn’t be the end of the world or his finances to take the 3d designs and modify them slightly more.

The body mold looks good. The deco shouldn't have plain straight lines. I dont see marty in the face at all tho.
