Price increase doesn't help either, paying almost 25 a figure after taxes now 🤦 Still cheaper than Marvel Legends or DC McFarlane after their most recent price increase. I've been selective on those too

Mattel won me over massively in 2009. I think it was around October of that year we first saw pictures of what was awaiting for us in just a few months. All these years later and they are still doing a phenomenal job/putting out some of their best work. But here's the issue. The WWE to me... it just isn't it anymore. I started losing interest in 2018. I wanna say around mid 2019 is when I just completely gave up keeping up with the product.
AEW coming around is probably the only reason I still watch wrestling. WWE for me is background noise nowadays, if that. So my Mattel purchases have significantly died down the past few years. I'm all for RA era stuff but the currents guys and girls, just don't do it for me. So it's easy to pass on their figures. Don't get me wrong, Mattel is pushing out incredible stuff. I love keeping up with the board here and all that, but I just don't buy like I used to.

Im pretty over it. The prices in general, letalone ebay prices and distribution issues. It's just not worth it like it used to be.

Its 2023 and we have a toy company that does not get its toys to stores.
We have all this technology and they still can not consistently do there only job.
People would be more willing to accept price increases if they could actually depend on walmart and target.

For me, I just I wanted to focus on other areas of life. I’ve had some awakening moments, wanted to focus on other interests and don’t have the space to have a massive collection. I’ve sold off at least 75 percent of my collection, including ML, DC Collectibles, Power Rangers, Funkos, Elites, Figuarts etc. First off, let me say… it’s a headache to have to sell, but it’s freed my mind up a bit. I was kind of buying compulsively. In terms of Mattel, I feel like prices have upped and the quality has been decreasing whether it’s QC, baffling part choices and lack of characters who interest me. I don’t care or really watch the current product anymore either. Maybe once in a blue, I’ll watch a highlight. Last item I was genuinely excited for was the WCW crowdfund. It was a dream come true for me, collecting wise… except, it didn’t come to fruition :/ I mainly just collect WCW/Attitude Era now. I feel happy with just that, but at times I feel like giving it up all together and leaving that portion of my life behind. I mainly collect for nostalgia. While I’ve had some wonderful moments collecting, sometimes it makes me sad. With that being said, taking a break can help or just reducing the amount of stuff you collect can help freshen things up. I’ve mainly gotten into fashion, fragrances and film recently. The time spent solely on collecting has opened new areas and interests for me.

Firstly, I think Steve and Bill and all the Mattel people are working their A$$ off.
That said, there seems to be something happening - my guess is the cost crunch is driving the business decisions and we are now seeing it the product (which is still good, but not as engaging for me). Cancellations & postponements are hurting that’s for sure.
For me personally, I also think that reissues are hurting the line from a collectability stand point. Don’t @ me about value blah blah blah, I’ve been an international collector for nearly 25 years, paid more in shipping than I care to calculate. I just don’t see any reason to go out of my way to chase anything anymore. What’s the point!
Not when NECA has TMNT, McFarlane has Batman, Hasbro making awesome Transformers, Hot Toys killing it with their line, 3rd party companies signing talent like Demolition and LOD (just to name a few) and my love for sealed retro wrestling games (I’m almost complete - but then I’m moving to VHS and Magazines). Mattel simply can’t compete at the moment with what they are currently offering. I remain hopeful RSCfest (or the next big show after that) well peak my interest again, but time will tell.
PS… I know some (lots even) collectors who have never been happier, and I’m stoked for those collectors. And I’m still very excited for a bunch of stuff, the CC line, the MNW UE that are coming. It’s not all doom and gloom. Lol

I collect every era if it’s wrestlers I like or I’m trying to fill out an era (hence me owning Berzerker, Warlord, King Mable, etc.) and I have the opposite problem. I used to just get one version per era/gimmick or if it was an attire I really liked.
So where did it end so wrong to the point that I have almost every elite AJ Styles, Roman Reigns with every color vest, or so many modern John Cenas? I need to start limiting myself drastically because 10 years in the game has led to me accumulating an insane amount of figures.

I will continue to say ... the scale elite WWE are the best figures out there. The sculpts, the size, the clothes and the massive selection are awesome. I love not only the sculpts and passion from Bill ... but the passion from Steve and his interaction with the fans on the forum! Amazing! Per their words, and I believe them ... they want to do as many legends as possible. This excites me. I love WWE and from a business perspective I give them credit to weathering storms throughout the years and succeeding but when you absorb history you are also responsible to honor history. They do it with the Hall of Fame ... but not so much with figures and I think there is where the problem is. I have a massive collection. I used to have every LJN. I had every Hasbro and galoob. Then I had all of the Jaaks figure which had a massive wide assortment.
it's hard to see smaller companies get the rights to these wrestlers and not Mattel/WWE. First in the line Wrestlers that were accessible would really excite me.

Mattel lost my interest over the UE Cody. They took our money based off a computer render. A render mosy if us thought was passable. Then a month before the figure ships, we get in hand pics from insufferable influencers on YouTube where not only were the tights way off, but the jacket somehow grew 2 sizes.
And then you have people who work for Mattel double down and say the lighting is off. And then tripled down and posted a lame excuse of a collage of Cody from the event where they outed themselves as wrong because every pic in that collage didnt look like the final product. Mattel has got to be the worst company(not counting 3rd party companies, etc) in terms of what we see in protos vs the final product.
They never admitted they screwed up. They didn't push the figure back a couple of months to fix the issue(when they had a year to begin with), but they'll sure as hell do a running change on Johnny Sameface and crank out really nice figures of Japanese women with little to no prob. And now they want our money again for a made to order set of LWO. Yeah, no thanks.
How do you expect to get better if Mattel as a company, esp in the WWE division, ignores criticism and gets their feelings hurt when an overpriced stage with horrid figures didn't fund.

A lot of the guys I mentioned were main event guys. Many are in the Hall of Fame. They made the Red Rooster?? They made Gobbley Gooker which was not even a wrestler. With Mattel Creations it gives them an option to do limited runs or let the people talk with their wallets instead of NEGATIVE HARD TO KILL stalker worry about peg warmers. If enough people buy them they get made. If not they don't. Give the option and see what money comes in. Why not?
