I have an ex-friend who was training at the IWS Dojo for awhile. She told me two things very early on.
Expect it to hurt
Expect to GET hurt
Because the thing about wrestling is that, especially in training, it doesn't matter how good you are, the other person you are training with has your well being in their hands, and if they aren't as good as you, you're gonna end up breaking something.
And, if you don't trust mine or her word on that, friendly reminder that Kevin Owens has been wrestling on a horribly injured knee since he was a a kid because the other guy in the ring was really bad at wrestling.

yeah, took some minimal training when I was 17 from the highlanders tag team. worked some indie shows as security in high school.

Been in it for over 15 years. Keep your chin tucked, don't put your hands out when you fall, keep your mouth shut, keep your ears open, and have a back up plan. I'm in pain every day.

Went to one class but at the end when it was over I went to the top rope. Trainer saw it & came running over screaming. He shaped up to punch me but just hit a working punch instead. I knew I couldn't go back after that.
