The drastic difference in height and girth between the old basic HTM and the retro fest one is quite comical. I'd say the basic is too small and the elite is a tad too tall.  |

Yeah, all of the HTM basic figures are small. I remember the basic two pack with him and Warrior, Warrior appeared to be more than a full foot taller in the packaging.

There’s plenty of Basics that are noticeably smaller than their Elites.
Sting (all basics except the TRU Network Spotlight & Walmart set with Taker)
Bret Hart (all except B14 Royal Rumble Heritage)
Jim Neidhart
HTM
Randy Orton (since the first articulation change)
Drew McIntyre (since the first articulation change)
Just to name a few.

For me beside the mentioned ones the biggest problem was always the basic Macho Man. He is way too tall. Much taller than McIntyre and Orton and almost as tall as the basic Hogan.

I know. I put the jumpsuit from the elite on the basic and it was like a kid wearing his dad’s pajamas.

His elite is more accurate. Warrior was only a inch or 2 taller. The basic is like on a body of someone 5'5. Honky is like 6'1 or 6'2.

I know. I put the jumpsuit from the elite on the basic and it was like a kid wearing his dad’s pajamas. Hahahah I was thinking of doing this. Hopefully the upcoming basic is scaled more accurately. |

There’s plenty of Basics that are noticeably smaller than their Elites. Sting (all basics except the TRU Network Spotlight & Walmart set with Taker) Bret Hart (all except B14 Royal Rumble Heritage) Jim Neidhart HTM Randy Orton (since the first articulation change) Drew McIntyre (since the first articulation change) Just to name a few. The Basic Stings are comically bad, way too small. I recently tried to pose a Basic Sting with the recent Legends WCW Hogan (Elite), and Hogan towers over Sting - I don't even want to post it because it looks so bad. |

I have the Network Spotlight Sting MOC and was considering opening it (for photos) - but decided against it if the end result was going to be absurdly short, like the Basic green Sting. But if the orange version is taller I might revisit that.... Never found the white Basic two-pack with Undertaker. Never saw it or found it at any retail and refuse to pay top dollar for it. I'm cheap like that. One of the few figures missing from my collection. |

When they first showed that basic series Starrcade’90 Sting I was totally happy, but the more I looked at the photos the more concerned I was that it was too short. Bu I still preordered it and when that package arrived from RSC and I opened it I saw my concern was correct because it was grossly too short. To say I was very disappointed is an understatement. One of his most Iconic looks and I couldn’t display it front row center on the shelves because it was so undersized. Here’s a pic of a fixup I did by giving him the longer calves. I don’t remember if they were flesh tone or a molded tights color. I want to say they were the calves used for Orton/McIntyre before they switched the basic articulation. I just popped the boot off it was a flesh colored lower leg. So it was probably an Orton or McIntyre figure. |

Some Legends Luger boots might correct the height or at least bring it closer to the Elite.
Side by side, I think I still prefer the E21 Honky head to the True FX one
