Around 2016-2018 I’d say.
I went to America 2014 and saw elites everywhere thinking how much better than any other figures I’d seen they were.
I went back to England 2016 and saw walls in Smyths and was tempted. Somewhere before returning again in 2018 I’d started back. The one that got me was the undertaker tmnt mashup. I then went and got the undertaker ministry DM I’d been eyeing off and was away to the races.

When the Retros were announced, so 2016-ish.
I’d not been keeping up with WWE figures basically since the BCA days, but my love was always the Hasbros, so when I saw on another forum the Retros series 1 reveal then I was interested in what Mattel were doing.
The KOTR Bret was actually the first Mattel figure I bought before the Retros came-out I think, and then I collected the Ultimates from the start until recently when Mattel decided to give exclusive Ultimates to US stores that don’t ship to the UK, so that ended that collection as it’s just not worth the hassle dealing with that BS.
Now it’s just the Retros for definite for me, but occasionally might buy one or two special figures from other lines if they are available to me.

I held out for a while because I was still living in my college apartment when the line launched. I *almost* broke a bunch of times (and given how hard some f this figures are to track down now, really wish I had) but I finally cracked in March of 2012 for the CM Punk/Macho Man battle pack (which I still have MOC). Literally the next day at the old Times Square Toys R Us, I picked up the All-Satars Elite CM Punk vs Austin two pack and the BOPPV SummerSlam Daniel Bryan. I collected somewhat on and off from 2012 through 2018, then really upped my game in 2019.

In either 2010 or 2011. Whenever the legends series 2 set hit the shelves. I remember heel Jake and short haired Rick Rude being my first purchases. Either then or the RSC exclusive Macho King figure. So, whenever those hit.

I started in 2021 during the pandemic, cured a bit of boredom but more of a midlife crisis so I’m told ha. It’s a hobby, one of a few that I have now. I only collect from late 1980’s to 2000 at a push. Mostly I wanted to collect the same figures as the hasbro ones I had as a child. Being in the UK it’s becoming more expensive now though.

2010 with the 1st Hart Dynasty BP. Then I got PJ to pick me up the 1st Sheamus basic figure a while later and after that I was all in.
