Just curious what the whole process was behind the scenes bringing in David Flair as an on-screen character.
Just seems he had no real affinity for the business.
Was this a Bischoff idea thinking he'd be the next Ric?
Did Ric have this done intentionally to pull strings as a favor to get his son on TV?
Seems like he fell off the face of the earth and didn't look back on the business.

I feel like David didn't want to be there, he just kind of did it cause of the money. But because of him being in WCW he did get to date Stacy Keibler so that is probably the best thing he got out of his WCW run.
That and the US Title reign and the WCW Tag Title reign.

David Flair is a prime example of nepotism in Wrestling. He was hired solely on his family name, had zero talent, and if the territory system was still alive when he came around he probably would have been a "World Champion" in whatever promotion Ric Flair would have ended up running.

I only really remember him turning on Ric to join the nWo...then Flair demanded to turn heel which made Hogan & David faces. Whoa..WCW 99 eh?

It was like the morning of WCW Uncensored, both Flair and Hogan woke up saying, "let's bring back the 80s!"
Flair becomes a heel or tried to be like one from his run from the 80s and Hogan all of a sudden doing the 80s Hogan baby face style of selling, reacting and wrestling in that match.
Fans were like, "what.... uh.... what??" Ha ha ha

I wouldn't care if it was garbage CZW if getting to date Stacy was part of the deal I would be a company guy all the way.

Bad as he was, I really liked the Psycho Stable with him, Crowbar & Daffney.

I believe originally it was supposed to be a one off with him teaming with Ric against Hennig/Windham at Souled Out 99. But apparently they saw something in em and he was signed full time.
Another son of a famous wrestler that just wasnt going to live up to the hype in the end

I was in the live crowd the night that He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named beat David for the United States Championship. Not sure I've ever been in the midst of a bigger pop, live and in-person.

If anyone watches Wrestling Bios on YouTube, his “Reliving the War” series is up to early 1999 so he just started covering the early days of David Flair. It’s clear David either did not want to be there, or simply was the most talentless person to ever walk this planet.
I did enjoy his “psycho” gimmick with Crowbar and Daffney.

I'd say a combination of both

He was the most useless wrestler ever until Garrett Bischoff came around. Then Wes Brisco took that mantle from Garrett a few months later in 2012 but I give Wes a pass because he wasn't brought in to any company due to nepotism.
I've been watching Nitros and seen every episode he's been in until where I'm at in March 2000 and he did improve and the psycho gimmick got him to open up and work on his character. His in-ring work improved a lot but my god did he not know how to bump, sell or entertain for like a good year into his WCW career. He'd just flop around like a stiff fish.

Lack of training aside, it’s amazing how David and Charlotte are siblings yet complete opposites when it comes to athleticism.
