Yeah, the 2 pack idea may be backfiring. I’m sure the thought was that it would be a way to get people into the line who might not sell on their own. However, I think a lot of collectors would likely be more interested in buying individual figures they want, rather than feeling forced to buy 2 or none. It may even drive overall sales, if they can remain in-stock (as they have) and people can spread out their expenses. Or, release single packs quarterly instead of two packs twice per year? I’d personally still also be okay with shifting the Coliseum Collection to Elite figures, since I’m not opening them and so not ever using the extra parts or additional articulation of Ultimates. Given the relatively simplistic attire/looks of the source material (LJN figures), as long as the packaging remained the same, shifting to Elites could bring down the cost and in doing so, raise interest and sales. Thoughts? It probably wouldn’t go over well with current collectors of the line if they shifted from Ultimate Editions to Elite. I think spacing them out to one per wave instead of a two-pack would be a great idea, though (without seeing any of their internal numbers or data). Id still buy them because I'm a sucker buy I'd be pretty disappointed if they switched from ultimates. It would probably make some of the more obscure names more viable but I've gotten too used to the alternate heads and unique accessories

I used the Razor Ramon UE extra heads to replace my defining moments Razor’s head.

They're just nice to have on hand especially if you like experimenting with parts or doing customs

I’m in my mid 40’s, grew up on the LJNs, am all in on this line, but would prefer homages to classics from earlier-in-the-line wrestlers, like Studd, Sheik, Beefcake and Valentine, to later-in-the-line wrestlers like Warrior and Honky- who feel more Hasbro era to me. But I think they want to strike that balance of appeasing the older collector and bringing in more mass market appeal, to make more money at the end of the day. The fact that none of these sets have sold out and they have not been able to increase frequency of releases says that the market for these figures is limited. I’m just happy they are still coming out! I think there are a few reasons why these aren’t selling out. 1) Collectors have to buy two figures, when sometimes they may prefer only one in the set. And considering they are the most expensive line (UE), that may not be justifiable to everyone. 2) There haven’t been any First Time in the Line figures. As appealing as some of these are, if you already have a version you like, then why pony up for the UE version? This was true for me for the Hart Foundation. I love the set but I already love the elites and don’t need to pay that much for an upgrade that would render my elite set obsolete. If I could trade in my elites for half off (or something) I’d consider it. But toy collecting isn’t like that. As far as your 2nd point, I have a feeling there won't be any FTITL figures in this line. This is more of a niche line and I think they probably want to reserve first timers to one of the other lines. Also, yeah, I passed on CC Rude/Roberts cause I felt like we already got really good 80s versions of them within the last couple of years.

Out of the talent I would want most who was available but seemingly isn’t any longer, besides Akeem (though mostly for One Man Gang), is “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan. Passing up on his Legends fig early in the line is one of my biggest collecting regrets. I’m getting and looking forward to his upcoming Big Rubber Guy, but I also feel like not having an elite style fig of him in my golden era collection is a big hole.

Steve Ozer was just interviewed on the Wrestling Figure News Podcast. Definitely worth a listen! Some of the notes pertaining this line include that he’d had this line planned out for the next 3 years, but that talent availability changes (eluded to Macho) have thrown everything off; pairings don’t have to have major connection at this point, more about who could potentially sell; managers are possible but not matched together- and Albano was originally slotted for this line, but moved to Legends (with the same look coming out there, so he’s less likely now in this line); a deeper cut (they joked about SD Jones, while saying this is NOT a preview/scoop) would have to be paired with someone like Ultimate Warrior; the DiBiase/Steamboat set will come “after SDCC,” sometime in September, October or November, and shipping right after the order; and no interest right now increasing frequency of these or other Mattel Creations lines- would rather focus on increasing main-lines and retail store exclusive lines. These are all paraphrased, of course, so please correct if you understood any differently.

Legends Albano is pretty stacked, imo, so yeah, a CC version is going to be a hard sell after that I think.

No, it was more just an example of how managers are being considered and that the lineups are shifting. I love the Albano, but since I’m a sucker for the Coliseum Collection packaging, I’m a little bummed to hear what could have been. Hopefully that opens a slot for someone else though!

The podcast started over for me while driving to work today, so I heard the info again. To correct myself, Steve didn’t say they had 3 years mapped out, just “years.” Still, I’m always glad to hear when this line is not being talked about as though it is wrapping up anytime soon!

Tonight on FigNight the guys interviewed Steve Ozer. One of the most interesting points to me was when one of the hosts mentioned talking with Demolition and suggested that they said they are in talks with WWE to get legends/figures deals! That would be amazing for this line!

That would be amazing for this line! Maybe im crazy but it seems like they're getting pretty aggressive with legends deals, is it possible we get some FTITL names like Dynamite Kid or Adrian Adonis?

Steve won’t say it whenever he’s asked about ownership change, but it really does seem like Vince was a major holdup for multiple legends.
