I re subscribed to the WWE Network over the weekend, first time in months I have used the servie and first of all, what in the blue hell happened to the UI, it is freaking horrible. Also, have they taken stuff off? Last time I had it they had WWF Superstars from 1992 all the way to 1996, but I could not find them.
Anyway, I got it for The Survivor Series, but I also really wanted to check out that documentary about Vladimir the super fan. Growing up, like most people to me he was this mythical guy that would be at what felt like every major WWF event. I would get more of a kick actually when he would show up on a random RAW. I also remember they actually put him in the WWF Magazine in the mid 90s, I want to say 95 ot 96, but I could be wrong there.
If you have still not checked out this documentary I highly recommend that you do. It made me smile, made me tear up, and then had me smiling by the end of it. While I really wanted to see this, the whole Covid aspect of it was something I was not looking forward to, but it was such an integral part of this man's story. Honestly, this documentary deserves to be nominated for some kind of award for how well it was done! My wife was in the room while I was watching it and even she got caught up by it and she has zero interest in wrestling. She got choked up when he was talking about his mum!
What are you guys thoughts on the doc and Vlad the super fan in general? What I love about him is that he feels authentic, many of these new super fans feel like they are playing a character and trying to do a bit. Hey if they are having fun and not hurting anyone else's experience, more power to them. With Vlad, his love, excitement and whole persona always felt real and it was so great to see that confirmed with this documentary.
It would be so awesome if the WWE could release this physically. They could record a bunch of stuff like his top ten memories or matches he saw live or even have him do play by play over a match or two. It would be a great way for him to make a few bucks as well. Plus, this documentary is so well done, it deserves to be preserved in a physical format, if not released on its own, it would make for a great extra on next years WrestleMania release.
