I recently bought a second set of the CS Rock & Roll Express figures to open, paint correctly & then reseal in the package … my questions to anyone who may be able to answer is this, since they’re so small what would be the best “tool” to paint the eyes with? … I thought about maybe using toothpicks with a tiny amount of paint, would this work or is there any better way? … Also, since the figures are nearly 16 years old now would it be wise to try to pop the heads off to paint them or could the plastic peg be brittle after all this time? … Thanks for any advice

Painting eyes is something I loathe. I'm not good at it and I don't want to do it. It's hard to give tips because different techniques work for different people. I never found the toothpick technique to work for me, it always seemed to make a mess. I prefer a super tiny point brush. A super small amount of paint is also important because of how small the area is.
As for removing the heads, I always prefer the boiling water method to hair dryer. Just make sure the head is complete submerged in clean, boiling water for about 1 minute and I wouldnt think it would be a problem. I've removed many classic superstars heads in the last couple of years and have never had a peg break, but don't do something you arent comfortable with!

Thank you so much for your response, I’ve never tried painting figures before … now when painting the eyes, is it pretty much a one shot deal at doing it or could I keep some alcohol or something nearby to wipe them clean before the paint dries & start over in case I screw up? … Would that even work?

Yes that would work. Or some 100% acetone. Just use it sparingly or it could eat the plastic.

10-4 buddy … thank you so much!! Did you ever end up making them? I did not … when I received the second set I just couldn’t bring myself to open them so I ended up with 2 Moc autographed sets … maybe one day I’ll be able to find a loose set for a decent price & do it then

I’m in the middle of trying to recreate my Jakks collection and I cringe when I think of all the figures I screwed up over the years trying to customize lol

I’m in the middle of trying to recreate my Jakks collection and I cringe when I think of all the figures I screwed up over the years trying to customize lol I know what you mean, most of the CS figures are insanely priced these days & will only probably increase as they get older … I’ve never been a customizer which is what had me so concerned about painting those at first but if I ever find a loose set it won’t bother me if I screw those up … the strange thing is, even though they were manufactured with mixed up paint jobs, the blonde Robert Gibson still looks like Ricky Morton, just an older middle age scan, at least to me anyways … but the dark haired scan of Ricky is just totally, well, f——d 😆
