Hey guys I was thinking of getting back into collecting a bit now that I have my own home and been at the same job for over three years. I've finally dragged myself out of poverty basically 😂 but was curious about which Authentic Scale Ring to get. I still have about 60 figures overall that I've kept or collected over the last couple years. All either Elite, UE or AEW figs and they need a ring to be set up in. So here's my questions.
- Are they all (AEW/WWE/WTC) the same sizes?
- Which one do you think is best?
- Were they always $100? (I swear it was like $60-$70 when I first got one in 2016-2017)
IF THESE HAVE BEEN ANSWERED RECENTLY MODS CAN LOCK AND DELETE

The original Mattel is the same as the WCT which is the same as AEW. Prices I think were $75-$100 originally IIRC but were always under $50 after a while. Looks like the Sting version is the cheapest any of the AEW have been under $80.

Nothing against AEW but I dont want any brands or logos on the mat/skirts. Just personal preference. My only dilemma is that I still have two defining moment crow Stings so this would be a third Sting and the second that would be unboxed. The struggle of deciding to strike now or wait for a new deal someday down the line.

OK. I’m an expert. I have like 10 scale rings at least starting with the original Jakks Wrestlemania 1 Real Scale Ring. These rimgs were 20”x20” and came in Wrestlemania 1, Wrestlemania 2 w/ steel cage, Money in the Bank, Hell in a Cell, and Elimination Chamber flavors. Jakks seemingly sold their molds to a company I don’t think I’m allowed to name on here that makes overpriced accessories based on Jakks molds manufactured in China of iffy quality based on reviews I’ve read. So you can still get Real Scale Rings without WWE branding. The original first edition Jakks Real Scale Ring was $50. Later versions were more expensive. I think Hell in a Cell and Elimination Chamber versions were $80-100. I forget.
Mattel’s first scale ring was the Elite Scale Ring in I think 2011 and is roughly 22”x22” with Raw 2010 branding on the ring skirts. Excellent ring, but a little big. It randomly popped up again on Mattel’s website around the end of 2014 in the original packaging after being gone from retail for like 2 years. I dunno if it was found stock or a new production run. Literally the same exact ring down to the box. $60 original price.
Next up was Wicked Cool Toys’ officially licensed Authentic Scale Ring that was very obviously using slightly modified molds of Mattel’s ESR. It was also 22”x22” and virtually the same as Mattel’s but with slightly different materials. I have several and these were very good despite 22”x22” being a little big. I personally think 20”x20” is probably ideal. But these were excellent and came in Raw, Smackdown, NXT, and Wrestlemania flavors. They made ringskirts for several eras and PPVs and shows including WCW Monday Nitro, Raw is War, and WWECW. They made a classic blue steel cage and a modern silver steel cage. These rings were originally $80 retail.
Then Mattel got back in the scale ring business in 2017 or 2018 with the Main Event Rings in both Raw and Smackdown flavors. Brand new molds. Light-up LED ring posts and LED apron screens. Came with steel steps, an announce table, rolling desk chairs, and an exclusive figure (Goldberg or Jinder Mahal). A perfect 20”x20”, but the height is way too short. The width and length are perfect but the height seems to be in scale to the basic rings. So the height from the floor to the top rope is way too low. But other than that, I love these rings. I think $80 original price. Maybe $100. I forget.
AEW is created and the AEW ring comes out. It’s basically a reworked version of the Wicked Cool Toys WWE Authentic Scale Ring. Ringposts are square instead of round and the turnbuckles are different. Other than that, it’s largely the same. 22”x22”. I think same height as the ASR. I think it’s just as good as the ASR myself. If you don’t mind it has AEW branding, go for it. $100 original pre-order price I think.
Then came Mattel’s Ultimate Edition Rings. These are the Rolls Royce of scale rings. Fabric removable turnbuckle covers with foam insides. Soft fabric ring mat. The base is sculpted to look like the girders under an actual wrestling ring and the center of the ring is molded to look like wood planks. It’s easy to put together, virtually impossible to take apart, but absolutely gorgeous. And the ring skirts are four separate pieces that are made up of some kind of thin canvas-type material. So far it came in New Generation blue as a crowd funding project, ‘98 Raw is War that just sold out (but expect to see it pop up on secondary marketplaces because Mattel just had a buy one get one free sale), and the upcoming WCW Monday Night Raw retailing for $150. These are my favorite rings. I adore them. They’re 21”x21” but don’t feel too big. I think the Jakks Real Scale Rings are the perfect size for Mattel figures, but these new Mattel rings are probably the best you’re going to get for a decent price.

Didn't want to quote that whole post but I think I've narrowed it down to the AEW ring bc I reaaaallly like the square turnbuckles as they seem like they'd be great for posing or the newest rolls Royce version you were talking about in the last part of your post. That sounds amazing with the realism factors and features. I definitely had the ROH ring and the $60 mattel one as well. I hate that I got rid of so many things but moving across the counter when I got out of the Army was expensive to say the least. I had the blue cage and the silver cage as well to go with the mattel ASR. Over time I hope to get some of them back albeit with more money lol. Thanks for this informative post by the way. Very helpful mate.

Very helpful mate. No prob. I like the AEW ring a lot, even though it takes up a ton of space. The turnbuckles were a little harder to put on than other rings, but I like the uniqueness of them. If you can afford it, I would definitely recommend Mattel’s upcoming WCW Monday Nitro ring from RSC because the level of detail is unreal. It’s pricey, but it’s the kind of thing that if you had it as a kid, you’d be the coolest kid on the block.

I really wanna do an 8 sided ring but I would like to figure this sewing machine out first so I don't have to staple the skirt on. I could always fit an ASR apron on instead as well. I went with the boxing style turnbuckles pads just bc I liked the idea of big title fights with a red and blue corner and I felt it was more unique than the other stuff I'd seen. Also the distance between the outside of the turnbuckles is actually a 16th of an inch smaller than the measurements for the cage that is made by Wrestling Superstore so it will actually all fit together so I'm happy with that aspect as well.

I still think Jakks scale ring is the best looking version.
