Got my complete set of Elite 106 (except chase Bearer) in yesterday, and finally got around to opening them up and doing some good ol' flash photography, so as usual, I've included some pics below, as well as my thoughts on each figure. Also included are two new custom figures. Hope you enjoy! YEET!
Paul Bearer
IMO Paul Bearer is one of greatest managers of all time, and I'm very happy to finally have him in Mattel form. My only other figures of Bearer that I own are two old Jakks Classic Superstars ones, so needless to say, I was overdue for an upgrade. I'm very happy to report that this is a pretty great figure. I think they absolutely nailed it with the headscan in particular. He looks great next to 'Taker and Kane too, so that's always a plus. I may pick up the chase Bearer in the future, but for now, this one is perfectly fine. OH YEEESSS!!!!
Chad Gable
It goes without saying, but we were long overdue for an updated Elite of Gable, and thankfully, this is another great figure from this set. Alpha Academy has really become one of my favorite teams in WWE at the moment, and this figure perfectly captures Gable's fun personality. The soft goods t-shirt is also a very nice touch. I can't wait to get the matching Otis from E107 too. A-THANK YOU!
Roxanne Perez
I think it's pretty cool that Roxanne got an Elite figure this quickly. She has a ton of potential, and it's nice to see more NXT talent getting figures in the main line. As for the figure itself, it's a pretty solid figure. Don't really have any complaints with it. Easy to pose around, the likeness is great, and it comes with the new version of the NXT women's title for (what I believe to be) the first time. It is worth noting that the skin tone on her legs are a smidge more tan looking than her upper body, but I believe that is meant to represent the stockings under her gear, so if that's what they were going for, that's a pretty neat attention to detail!
Jimmy and Jey Uso
I really liked the all red attires The Bloodline were rocking on War Games last year, so it's nice to have them in figure form. We're getting Solo in E107, but I doubt we get a Sami from that match sadly, unless it's another camo Adam Cole situation, where we get it many sets later. For now though, these figures of The Usos are pretty neat. The attires pop, and while it is an odd decision that they changed the torsos on them, it's not a deal breaker for me. I'll probably keep the shirts on them when displayed, so it won't bother me. It's interesting to note that, since these use the same shoes from the Ultimate Edition Usos, these two actually have toe joints! Not often you see those on main line Elites. Now, to address what I'm sure many of you are curious about, the swappable hair pieces on Jimmy Uso. I was worried that this new gimmick of swappable hair was gonna lead to some problems, but I'm happy to report that the hair pieces stay on the head pretty well. They won't fall off during posing, and I feel like they'd stay on pretty well during play, unless you're deliberately trying to take the hair piece off. Overall, aside from the torso choices, great figures here, Uce!
Sami Zayn
As a pretty big fan of Zayn, this is a figure I definitely see myself getting a couple more copies of, if for no other reason than to do some head-swaps. I really wish they'd start giving him chest hair again though, and maybe a new torso. Other than that, another solid figure in this set. My only real gripe with it is that the mustache looks a bit too dark compared to the rest of the beard, and looks a bit strange from certain angles. Regardless, it's good to have an updated Zayn figure, with an updated longer hair head with a serious expression. I also did a side by side comparison with my custom WrestleMania 39 Zayn, and what the new head looks like on the custom just for fun. Overall, if you're a fan of Zayn, this is a figure worth getting for sure.
Here's my custom WM39 Zayn (repainted E91 body/E102 head) with the new E106 Zayn
And the E106 head on the custom body
BONUS! Custom SummerSlam 2023 Seth "Freakin" Rollins!
Just for an added bonus, here's a custom SummerSlam 2023 Seth "Freakin" Rollins I got from GCW's eBay page! I was always a huge fan of the SummerSlam 2016 Rollins attire, and I dug this new spin on that classic attire. I also really liked the match that this figure is based off of, and as you all might know by now, I'm a huge Rollins mark, so I want to have as many of his different attires in figure form as possible! As for the custom itself, honestly, if I didn't know any better, I would've thought this was an official figure. It looks incredible! Hoping one day Mattel gets around to making this attire in figure form officially, so you all can enjoy it for yourselves!
BONUS PT2! Custom SmackDown Kevin Owens!
For an additional bonus, here's a custom SmackDown attire Kevin Owens Elite made by yours truly! Relatively simple custom, just using a spare E101 Owens and kickpads from E66 Owens, plus some decals from Curb Stomp and blue paint for the shoes, but it's very effective nonetheless! Much like Rollins, I'm a pretty big KO mark, and I also like to have as many different attires of his in figure form as possible.
And that's everything for now! Here's the obligatory group shot of everything I got (made, in the case of the SD KO custom) this week. Thanks for viewing, my fellow figure enthusiasts!
