So what are your thoughts on the 2001 Rumble PPV?
I'd say its just amazing tbh, one of the best ever. I love it just like WM17 & NWO 01.
The Rumble match is one of the best, many great moments & star power. It had top guys, mid guys, lower guys, legends, surprise entrants, returns etc. They all played their parts perfectly!!! Just amazing.
HHH vs Angle heel vs heel for the WWF Title, what a match. Jericho vs Benoit Ladder match for the IC Title... Real banger. Dudleyz vs Edge/Christian for the Tag Titles, another banger.
I'd say those 4 matches alone makes this PPV epic & one of the best ever til this day.

Kane was such a badass and Austin was an even bigger one for throwing him out.
Just a great show from start to end!

I liked the 2001 event better than the 2002 one. But over all?? I wouldn't say it's one of the best, ever.
Even if you just base it on Royal Rumble PPV shows, I feel 1992 will always be the greatest PPV event. To have an event that has so many former World Champions and future World Champions in the Rumble match itself is incredible.

Def not "THE" best ever but still a great event.
Kane looked like a beast, Trips/Angle was great, Jericho/Benoit might have been the best IC Title match at a Rumble (imo), Dudleys/E&C was solid.
Only dud was the Chyna/Ivory match but that whole feud was trash.
Random note, wish they did more with Haku after his return here, could have even turned him back to Meng and joined the Alliance for the Invasion angle but nonetheless.

Fantastic show.
Jericho vs Benoit was an absolute bruiser man....whoa.
Dudleys beating E&C for the straps was also great.
Angle vs HHH was excellent.
The Rumble itself was a cracker & I remember watching it live thinking HHH was going to pull Austin out and then a groggy Rock was going to slide back in and dump Kane out. But man was I glad that didnt happen. Austins blood soaked triumph was a beast....very unique with all the chairshots too
Brilliant performance from Kane too.

I always called it the Hardcore Rumble and it was an excellent edge of your seat match.
I just wish Kane would've won, but story wise it wouldn't have made sense. He was proved his worth during that match.

I'd say Kane beating HHH was huge tho but after that, they didn't really push em as a serious top guy until end of 02 & summer of 03. |
