So, on June 28th, 1999, we got the highest rated match/segment in RAW history... wow. The number was over 10 million and it was very close to hitting 11 million.
I gotta say that is some crazy numbers and it shows you how big the business was back then... it was scary stuff.
Austin was just so damn popular back then as well, good times.

This is why I’ll always find it funny when fans today try to argue that Cena and Roman are as popular as Hogan, Austin, and Rock. They couldn’t hold a candle compared to just how popular those three were during their primes.

Was just talking about this (Raw Ratings) in the Raw thread. Becky and Nia had the highest rated segment of the night, drawing 1.7 million viewers, and people think it's a good thing. I looked at the Raw ratings over the last three years, very few shows averaged 2.0+ in the ratings for the entire show. Raw during the late 90s/early 00s averaged 5.0+ in the ratings. Even having shows that surpassed 7.0+. And that's also with Nitro getting 3.0+ ratings, too. Even Punk returning a few weeks ago couldn't get them a 2.0 in the ratings. Even the bad years of the New Generation would consistently score a 2.0+ in the ratings.

Back then was just crazy stuff... you had about 15 million people watching RAW/Nitro every Monday night... a legit boom period. Imagine RAW or SmackDown on FOX network back then? The numbers would be even higher.

They are all megastars in their own lane tbh.

Ringmaster, Maivia, Prototype & Big Dog. All of which were on the same level of awful

RAWs numbers were just crazy back then & and Nitros' numbers were still good enough as well, despite them getting destroyed in the war.
Nitros numbers in 96/97/98 was also crazy stuff.

I'd also say that Nitro in 99 actually did some shocking big numbers. I gotta give em credit for that as RAW was just levels above during that era there.

It's crazy to look back at the PWI magazines from the Monday Night Era and look at the ratings that Raw and Nitro got.
The lowest Raw rating when it was getting beaten by Nitro, is still double the numbers that Raw gets now for a rating, and the WWE considered that to be troubling times.
The Austin/Rock/DX era of 1998 - 2000 will never be touched again. That era was just so much fun for so many reasons. I just don't get that feeling now when I watch it.

Strange.

Strange. I remember 95/96 getting trashed for years & years due to their ratings lol... times have changed. WWE these days make money other ways & I believe they'll always break records & maximise profits somehow. I think TV/cable has really changed due to online & streaming services tbh, that could be a big factor.

Got to remember there aren't many shows (let alone live shows) that pull in the numbers Raw does currently. That's what the network and advertisers look at.
