Hey guys, is anyone else a completionist with collecting, anything, but especially long runs of things, yet you really want to just have the ability to not be?
I am not even talking money wise, many things I collect are cheap, but the storing it away and just buying the last part to finish the collection even if the figure, for example, is one I don't want, seems like a grasp of my OCD I have worked on, but still fail from time to time.
Just something I was thinking would be an interesting topic.
Cheers to you all.

I used to collect all Elite bodied figures. Didn't matter if I didn't like that wrestler, or if Mattel rereleased a figure, or if it was hard to track down. Eventually Mattel started releasing too many Elite figures that it became difficult to keep up with so I gave up and sold the whole collection.

When I started collecting WWE I was after every figure. 3 years later I realized I didn't care for most of the figures picked up. So I stopped.
I do have a habit of buying multiples of an item I like in different colors when it comes to certain brands of sweaters, sneakers or hats.

I'm the sort of person to collect "one of each". So I'm trying to collect one of each Doctor Who figure for Doctors, Companions, and when they make them, Masters. I'm also trying to complete a collection of one of each Mattel women's wrestler, plus Jakks and Jazwares of ones that Mattel hasn't done. On top of that, I have one of each Shane and Stephanie figure (Plus many customs), almost one of every unique Sami and Kevin figure (Plus multiple customs), one of every Mick Foley gimmick/look, and I'm working on amassing a full Samoan Dynasty set.
ETA: Also, one of each Marvel Cinematic Multiverse characters, which is all of the MCU live action figures, plus the X-Men and Spider-Man figures, plus the animated X-Men cartoons. Also, I'm working on the Into The Spiderverse series as well. Basically, everything that isn't exclusively comics.

I have always had to try and complete everyting associated with what I have collected, from baseball cards, to comic books to coins to video games to wrestling figures. Obviously it has not always worked out, but I am still collecting, but to a lesser degree. Baseball card and wrestling figures are the closest I have come to completing sets/lines.

The only thing I collected & finished the set was the original ('77-'83) Star Wars figures. I still have them to this day. Years later I tried & came close to collecting every Playboy magazine. Eventually it got to be too much & I sold them off/threw them away.

Never had the money for it. But I remember back in the 2000s a guy from Louisville, Tim Ash, had like every WWF/WWE action-figure ever released. Then I read he had to sell his collection to help his wife out with cancer. Wonder if he ever got back into collecting.

I want to be and try to be with certain things I’ve collected but I usually end up not wanting something or it doesn’t fit into the way I originally collected it so it all goes down the drain and I don’t end up.
