I've made a few Ludvig Borga threads over the years, but this seems like a good time to resurrect that topic.
Thirty years ago, you can honestly say that Borga was a potential favorite to win the upcoming 1994 Royal Rumble. He was pushed to the moon in late 1993 and seemed destined to emerge in the main event picture. Ludvig was then injured at a house house against Rick Steiner in early 1994 which subsequently ended his WWF run.
I know he had some very personal and societal issues, but I've always wondered what he could have done in the WWF in 1994 and beyond had they kept pushing him. The company was pretty short on main even heels. It seems like they were all in on trying to get him to the top of the card.

I don’t think he was ever in the running to win. I think the bloom was off the rose and he was most likely gonna lose to Tatanka at the rumble and I mean they penciled him to feud with and most likely lose to Earthquake at Mania.

Was a fan of Borga. Would have loved to have seen him get a decent main event run.
A healthy Borga would have made an interesting foe for Bret after WM10.

Wasn't he going to get in a feud with Luger?

When Borga came back in 2002 and changed his ring name to "Brock Lesnar" he did pretty well for himself!

The Earthquake 1994 year is randomly weird too. Comes back the Raw taping after Royal Rumble, works singles as Fred is still in WCW as Shockmaster at the time. Gets into the program with Borga at Mania but that goes south cause of injury so Adam Bomb takes that squash beating. Then onto the sumo wrestling feud with Yokozuna, and then.... gone!
They bring in Fred as Typhoon again, and have him go at it with Yoko at house shows, and then Typhoon works Diesel and then... gone!
A weird year for the Natural Disasters team in their singles runs.

Yeah it's a shame they just missed each other during that time. A ND reunion wouldve been a nice boost to a tag division that was in rough shape Have em as heels and feud with newly turned babyface Headshrinkers for the belts. A feud that didnt get off the ground in late 92

I feel like I read somewhere he expected to be making more, be a main event guy and neither happened, and being asked to lose to Owen in a KOR qualifier was the icing on the cake.

This all sounds interesting ….do you have any more details? And if not, this would be a very interesting thing to ‘fantasy book’ from an alternate timeline!

This all sounds interesting ….do you have any more details? And if not, this would be a very interesting thing to ‘fantasy book’ from an alternate timeline! His Nazi tatoos caused quite a bit of a stir in the locker room & a few wrestlers complained to Vince because the Fink in particular was majorly upset by them. Tony had got them in the stupidity of youth but kinda like Slater(or was it Murdoch? whichever of them did a spot in the 90s) being in the Klan? Vince wanted no part of that action. At the time he had enough headaches with steroid trials, potential jail time etc. But Vince was super high on Tony Halme...there is more than one guy has said he was in for that monster showing in the RR. Vince had top tier plans for him. Both Prichard &JR have spoke about it on their podcasts. SSeries 93 podcast with Prichard I believe....on a side note? my hasbro Ludvig Borga was unstoppable man. Put Snuka, Roberts, Rude, Koko B Ware & Akeem on the shelf for good.....
