The 95 Rumble match.... 40 minutes of non-stop action and fun!
So, I wonder.... was it sped up to every minute because Vince knew Davey Boy couldn't do an hour in there?? I know HBK could, he did it with Bret a year later. But it just seemed strange to make it so quick compared to even 94 which had it at every 90 seconds someone new comes into the ring.
Also, the star power was so lacking. Heavy tag teams in this one. Which is shocking being the two finalists for the Tag Titles earlier on were all single stars.
Owen and Backlund getting eliminated fast made sense in story line I suppose, with Bret attacking them. But it took away from two main star powers in that rumble.
Definitely could have been done better, but HBK won, so I can't be too mad at it.

Tbh, I gotta rewatch it again, but I remember the last times watching it and thinking that it's not as bad as it used to be lol.
I really thought this match was trash for the next 20-25 years, but in the last 2-3 years, I've been thinking that it's actually funny to watch, lol.
I've seen many praise it slyly these days, but for nearly 30 years, it's been trashed a lot.

While I’ve mentioned before how I HATE how the ending was booked, I found it an ok match I guess. They made a bit of a deal out of Luger and Bulldog not fighting each other (foreshadowing the Allied Powers), but I was hoping for some interaction there. I reckon the lack of star power was the reason for the short match. Pumping out the entrants didn’t given us much time to notice how lame they were - in theory. I bet that’s what they were thinking.

I'm happy enough to watch this for nostalgia, but otherwise, this is when the royal rumbles started going downhill for me.

In the book Titan Sinking, I’m sure they said it was Michaels who wanted the time cut down (although I take all the information from that book series with a pinch of salt). Michaels realised he would have to be in the ring for an hour at least to win it all.
Another theory I read over the years was due to the lack of star power, the one minute intervals kept the pace of the match going, with fewer lulls in action.
Really weird with it being tag team heavy, especially with a title shot on the line for the winner. Would have been better cutting it down to a 20 man match if they were really struggling for competitors,

from what Meltzer said in his newsletters micheals was having some kind of injury/health issue quite awhile before the event and thats why vince decided to go 1 minute per entrant
i didnt car for this rumble at all. the short entrat times and lack of star power. pluis i knew vince was giving to micheals. he wanted micheals to beat flairs record in 92, but had to go to 1 minute intervals. thats why micheals came out at #1, flair was #3 in 92.
one way to tell how star power is in each rumble is how many figs from each mattell has made. from 1989-1993 they made about 23-25 from each rumble. 1994,95,96 mattel has made about half from each. thats how many weird off characters and filler there were in those years.
prob my least fav rumble of the 90's, with 99 being right next to it.

Not a great rumble match. The pacing made it hard to follow, and the lack of star power really hurt it as well. There were really only two possible winners, Lex and Shawn. Once Diesel retained the belt earlier in the night, I think it was pretty much known that Shawn was going to win. The weakest rumble match of the 90s.

I'd probably say 99 & 96 were better tbh. The bottom three will always be 99,96,95 for me.

Bulldog looked like such a freaking moron at the end of this Rumble!
Not a great Rumble at all and that is coming from someone that loved the New Generation Era. Shawn Michaels winning at number one is meaningless when the Runble lasted half the time it had before! When you think about it neither Bulldog or Shawn looked amazing here, Bulldog just looked like an idiot and Shawn won what was the easiest Rumble ever. On the plus side, Pam Anderson looked stunning and the Bret vs Diesel match was a blast!

Dire and by far and away the worst rumble of any in my book until the 2010s when I started losing track. Not only was it poor from a talent perspective? it was poor in terms of excitement and action.
Razor Ramon Undertaker Bam Bam IRS Tatanka
All should have been made do double duty this night to heat it up.
