Storytime. I remember being at the checkout line at toysrus around when Mr Kennedy was new. Some mom must have his figure because the cashier (who also looked like a mom) said this to her. "I don't get him. What's his gimmick supposed to be? Just saying ur name twice?" They both laughed & I guess the mom told her she doesn't really watch it. But at that moment I wanted to hug the cashier because I got her. I understand her pain lol. So what was his gimmick supposed to be? Also was he called Ken Kennedy on tv or just in print?

Interesting story, but ok....
Basically he was a brash loudmouth pr*ck. You say you don't know what his gimmick was supposed to be but he still showed more charisma and was more entertaining than like 75% of the roster at the time.
He had a cool look and moveset too.
Basically the way he described himself when he was in TNA (an a$$****), is what his gimmick was.
And he was Mr Kennedy vs Ken Kennedy in the exact same nickname way Rocky Maivia started referring to himself as "The Rock" in late 1997. As in, initially he was billed as Ken Kennedy but he referred to himself as Mr Kennedy (Tazz even had to correct Michael Cole around this time), and it was only a few months later in 2006 that they started to just refer to him as Mr Kennedy. Some merchandise including figures by Jakks Pacific still called him Ken Kennedy up until sometime in 2007 I believe.

Yeah I took his gimmick to be arrogant. He did have a ton of charisma and as the previous poster had put was more entertaining than most. Loved his finisher too. Just a pity he was so clumsy with his opponents and got a bad rep for it.

You're right about his moves but the moment I stopped caring about him was the minute be began using the mic check/reverse STO as his finisher. Basically a self Rock Bottom & probably the worst finisher in the history of the business. Some might argue "but you can hit it on anyone, that's what makes a good finish." No you can't hit it on anyone because if you wrestle The Rock or Booker T, you doing that move to them is making them do their finish on you!!

You know LA Knight? Same thing. Talked a lot and loud. Put on Main Event level work in the ring. Main Event as in the non televised show, not the actual main event of shows that matter. A flavor of the month that people want to think could have been more.

He absolutely had potential although the injury after winning MITB at WM23 derailed all of his momentum. They tried to bring him back, but he was never able to get back to that level again and by the time they had him doing awkward backstage interviews in 2008/2009 Kennedy was already a lost cause.
The issue with Orton sealed the deal.

Didn't he deliberately hurt people?

Didn't he deliberately hurt people? He dropped Randy Orton on his head with a backdrop but I dont think it was deliberate. The guy was always getting injured and I remember someone on here calculated the number of days he was on the disabled list or suspended for steroid use over his total time on the main roster (Aug 2005-May 2009) and he was out for like 1/3rd of that time. It was funny how he was Mr Anderson in TNA.

And yet he was barely ever injured during his 2010-2016 run in TNA. He was absent for like 7-8 months in total over that time, but it was never disclosed that he got injured IIRC. I'm not counting the concussion he suffered because that's Jeff Hardy's fault.
