I was reading earlier on today on here that when it came to the 1996 Royal Rumble, some people were upset that Shawn Michaels eliminated Yokozuna and Vader at the same time.
Well, in the 2010 Royal Rumble, R-Truth eliminates Big Show and Mark Henry the same style as Shawn did in 96. Now, at least with Shawn eliminating Vader and Yokozuna, he ended up winning the Royal Rumble. R-Truth would end up getting eliminated minutes later by Kofi Kingston.
So now in looking back at the situation at hand, I feel HBK eliminating Vader and Yoko at the same time really wasn't that bad when you consider the 2010 situation with R-Truth doing it to Henry and Show.

I sometimes wonder when reminiscing on old events whether I judge them by my age and standards today, or how I was at the time said events took place.
Back in 96 kayfabe and reality in wrestling still existed on some level. Shawn eliminating the two behemoths it felt like too much of a stretch of the imagination in 96. Fast forward to 2010 Killings eliminating the Big Show and Mark Henry seemed like another spot in the WWE circus (in my opinion anyway).

The 2010 Rumble was like one from a video game. Guys getting randomly eliminated left, right and centre.
Most of the roster were treated like weak jobbers.

I think the issue people have is that Vader was new to the company and most people expected him to be the next big monster heel in the company. They probably even expected him to win. So to not only be eliminated by Shawn, but to also be eliminated at the same time as Yoko who was huge at this point, wasn’t a great start.
In 2010, no one cared about Show and Henry and at that point big men being eliminated was no longer a big deal.

Context is key. The important thing to remember is that a lot of fans, particularly the complainer types, don’t necessarily have much consistency in their opinions. It’s not that they are against small guy eliminating big guys, it’s that it was Shawn Michaels. A lot of the people complaining about the 1996 Rumble probably have/had a weird grudge against Shawn Michaelsfor whatever reason, and/or subscribe to the “DAE Vader misused and berried” hivemind. So that’s all under the microscope.
In comparison, nobody cared that much about R-Truth, Big Show and Kane in 2010 so it barely registers - the complainers were more upset about what John Cena was doing at that time, or that Sheamus and Drew McIntyre were too new (and didn’t have enough indie matches) to be champions, or that the Bella Twins won a match against a workrate diva etc. And R-Truth is currently pretty beloved, whereas Kane and Show haven’t been involved/relevant in wrestling for years and aren’t remembered that fondly by people who pick wrestling apart, so that moment still wouldn’t earn the ire of the retrospective complainers in 2024.

Mabel throwin out yoko.vader at sdame time is one thing. but not little micheals. Yes, i had issues with him and being favored/catered too by vince, just like i hate HHH for all the push he gets being Steph's man. BUT it was the giant thing that has me most mad about it. it also kinda sucked some of the who's goiung to win life out of the rumble the second it happened. you can hear the crowd go silent a bit. micheals being vinces boy toy only put icing on that crap cake for me.

HHH eliminating Big Show & Kane at the same time in 2006 was shocking tbh. They was both pushed heavily at the time & was the Tag Champs.
