Now Kane in 2001 was on a huge roll & had a lot of potential, big momentum... but all for nothing tbh. It was a big letdown in the end & a huge waste.
He eliminated 11 guys in the Rumble, a record that stayed alive til 2014, he made it to the final 2 with Austin, it even looked like he was gonna win it but it took Austin to give em a Stunner, 3 big chairshots & a big clothesline to win it... damn that made Kane look strong in defeat.
But in the end, he really went nowhere tbh... Kane even beat HHH for the IC Title, a huge win, but he lost it to Albert on a random SD and once again went nowhere lol...big fan of Albert BTW ,but cmon š“
I'd say Kane should have been one of the biggest stars of 2001 & he should have at least won the WCW Title during the Invasion.

When I think back to 2001 for Kane...
- 1 time Hardcore Champion - 1 time IC Champion - 2 time WWE Tag Champion - 1 time WCW Tag Champion
Plus had the most eliminations in the Rumble, and wrestled for the WWF Title at Backlash in the tag match for all the belts, and beat Triple H to win the IC Title
I feel Kane had a really great 2001 year actually!

He definitely should have had a longer run with the IC title. Having him lose to fat Albert was one of the most braindead booking decisions ever.

I thought that Kane had a hell of a 2001. His showing in the Rumble is one of the most memorable in Rumble history. I was also a huge fan of the Brothers of Destruction during this time as well.

He should have remained heel & alongside Taker & HHH became McMahons new guys after WM. He only turns face when the Invasion starts.

Kane really should've won the Rumble, he more than deserved it. I always hated Austin's booking during that match. He gets beatdown and bloodied by HHH and then run's in at the end and wins! It was Super Cena booking at it's best.
Apart from his loss to Albert of all people Kane did pretty well during 01. Taker was having a horrible year so pairing him with Kane was genius booking and the crowd loved it.
He also won quite a few titles which was cool.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should Kane have won this Rumble. What would the proposed WM ME have been with him as winner? He really wasn't THAT over to headline the biggest WM ever at the time. He was rebuilt fantastically during this RR & had one of the best showings ever. But never the winner nor should he have been.

Similar folks say WM15 should have been a 3 way between Foley, Austin & Rock. It 100% shouldn't...WM15 was the culmination of Austin being screwed over & over again since Sept 98. There's no way a 3rd wheel should have been introduced yet folks insist it should have happened.

There's no way a 3rd wheel should have been introduced yet folks insist it should have happened. Plus, going back to WrestleMania X7, Austin winning the Rumble and then the title was the peak of his return after being out for over a year, he was the returning, conquering hero.... granted the ending to WrestleMania X7 kind of pissed that away, but the build up was excellent. The only thing I was not a fan of was the forced stuff with Debra. Apart from that Austins Rumble win, his stumble at No Way Out to show that he was human and perhaps not "bullet proof" all the way to those badass entrances he and Rock had and then just going straight at it once they were in the ring. It is one of the best build ups of all time. On a side note and this is a personal thing, Rock vs Austin at WrestleMania X7 is a prime example of why I hate the current champion introductions we have now. I know I am in the minority here as many people say it gives a match a "big fight feel" to me, it just halts the momentum of a cool entrance where the guys are pumped up and ready to fight, but then have to stand still for a couple of minutes while they are then introduced... I freaking hate it lol!

I freaking hate it lol! Good points all....JR has said on his podcast that NOBODY was a fan of Debra's involvement except for Vince himself. Felt the build needed it....it totally didn't. In fairness looking back? Acknowledging Austin's involvement with Debra was a huge mistake & it foreshadowed the softening of his character and heel direction.
