Is there any “rule” that states the wrestler has to be on their back for a pin or just that the shoulders need to be on the mat? How come nobody pins anybody face down on the mat, both shoulders can be pinned that way as well.
The reason I bring this up, I was watching a guy play one of the European WWF games and the pin falls would activate whether the wrestler was face down or face up and that has me thinking 🤔
It would blow peoples minds if that happened in a match

It’s pretty impossible to get an adult’s shoulders to touch the floor at the same time that way.

A hunchback could only ever lose a match by submission

Sounds like of those hidden WWE rules in their tag matches, like the one save or the legal/illegal DQ

lol. I never thought about it before, and obviously it can’t be done to everyone but what I’m thinking is, if it COULD be done, that would be a Wtf moment in a match. I never even thought about it

There was a Hardcore title match where Big Show pinned Essa Rios by holding him up against the wall and the ref counted that pinfall. Shoulders against the wall counts lol.

A hunchback could only ever lose a match by submission I'm pretty sure that it was Jim Herd who wanted a wrestling hunchback character for that exact reason.

I thought it was specifically both of the shoulder blades that had to touch the mat, not the shoulders.

Couldn’t Zack Gowan never lose a royal rumble because both feet have to touch the ground?

Never!
If that was the case, Jericho and Bret Hart would have more wins when they used the Walls of Jericho and the Sharpshooter to "pin" their opponents.

Is there any “rule” that states the wrestler has to be on their back for a pin or just that the shoulders need to be on the mat? How come nobody pins anybody face down on the mat, both shoulders can be pinned that way as well. It stems from competitive wrestling's roots. Across all forms of competitive wrestling, exposing an opponent to his/her back scores points. Putting both shoulder blades to the mat, usually for 2 consecutive seconds, results in a pin. Obviously, pro wrestling has dramatized that imagery, but it still works within the confines of the notion that a person on his/her back has been forced into the most vulnerable position. So there's no rule per say, especially since pro wrestling can make up whatever fits the program, but it would take an extended amount of time to sell the notion to the world that putting the front of the shoulders on the mat is equal to back exposure.
