Can someone kindly explain to me the seemingly large appeal of this "Ichiban Hogan?" I consider myself a pretty true Hulkamaniac, and yet - I surely wasn't watching when Hulk Hogan wrestled in Japan.... how did American fans even see any of this back then? Tape trading? And if that's the case, I still don't get why so many are excited for this version of Hogan, as I can't imagine too many fans were watching Hogan during this period? I'm just super curious...... I MIGHT buy the figure just to add to my collection, but this particular era of Hogan doesn't resonate with me.... and it certainly isn't something I've been clamoring for..... Red & Yellow for me, brother..... Not exactly sure how it was in the 80s, but in the 90s you could rent movies from a video store, you had magazines. So I’m assuming a lot of wrestling fans who couldn’t watch on tv, missed some ppvs/shows kept up with wrestling thru magazines and renting video tapes. But in the 90s I would watch on tv, buy every magazine and rent out alot of the ppv VHS tapes and the internet was useful too. But Hogan’s Japan matches weren’t on any tapes someone could rent at a video store. Back then, the answer is tape trading and publication, like PWInsider. Obviously once footage became more readily available, it was easier to obtain. Same way you get fans are fans of the eras before they were even born. |

'84,'85...the WWF/New Japan partnership was still going on so it was all still relevant. And then, 10 years later with the tape trading and lists. Jakks made an ichiban Hogan a while back in their TNA line too. |

In the late ‘90s and early ‘00s I was big into tape trading, especially for old NJPW. I got to see quite a bit of Hogan’s stuff from over there and enjoyed the extra effort he gave in Japan. It makes this upcoming figure a must for me. |

I don’t collect eras as much as just individual talent so it will go with other Hogans. |

Even though I watched fanatically from mid-80s through the next 30 years, I hold the “LJN era” with the highest nostalgic regard, so now focus my collecting on what pulls at those specific memories. |

Captain Lou will be awesome too, can manage a few guys.
And Ali will make a decent ‘attraction’ character.

Captain Lou because it's his first elite style figure, but I do have a high interest in the Hogan figure. To offer an answer to Flair Forever, YouTube developed my appreciation for older Japanese matches. I'd love a Terry Funk from his earlier years in Japan. Plus I'm sure a lot of people need to update their TNA Legends of the Ring Hogan. |

It didn’t necessarily have to be that they saw it in the 90s, I’m not sure what they all had on video tapes back then. But I’m sure in the past 15-20 years they’ve had videos of Hogan in Japan, even if not then, if it was just in the past 5 years it’s probably drawn the attention of some fans who wanted that Hogan in figure form. |

Captain Lou is a much needed hole in my elite collection being filled
Sultan is the surprise/sneaky great figure
Hogan is only necessary for true hardcore fans
Ali exists because they spent the money on his molds
I'm looking forward to adding Lou & Sultan
I'll buying Hogan because it's just unique
I'll get Ali because then one day I can sell the Ultimate 2 pack but still have a cool Ali figure

Captain Lou..... long overdue. First time my little brothers and I ever went to an independent wrestling show, we had zero idea how any of this worked. We were pretty young & we didn't know that you had to pay for autographs at a show like this. First guy we saw was Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart.... we asked for his autograph (we had no money). He basically told us to "f_ _ _ off". And he wasn't very nice about it.... We were nearly in tears.... when this older guy, with lots of rubber bands in his beard waved us over to his table. He was eating a hoagie. "Don't mind him, he's just cranky" he said of the mean Anvil. He very politely explained to us how it all worked.... and then he gave us a free autographed 8X10. That cool dude was Captain Lou Albano! When my mother was selling her house a few years ago, I rummaged through a pile of stuff from her attic that was set to be taken by trash collectors..... I found this 8X10. Of course I salvaged it, re-framed it, and now it hangs proudly on my collection wall! I'm still horrified that this treasure was about 24 hours away from going into the dump. Just as Captain Lou kindly welcomed us to the world of independent wrestling..... soon I'll proudly welcome the Captain Lou Legends figure into my collection! Awesome story! |

Captain Lou is easily the one I want most and sadly the only one I missed on the preorder. I loved him as a kid like so many others did from his work in and out of the world of wrestling. His LJN was one of my absolute favorites and this is probably as close as we’ll get to a modern update.
Hogan is a close second. This is currently set to probably be the last Hogan I’ll be getting because I’ve been so burnt out on him; but it’s so different that it got me. I was someone who got to experience the tape trading era around 2000, but Hogan’s matches weren’t something I got to see until recently with the rise of fan accounts on social media highlighting his work with guys like Muta.

Captain Lou, although I pray we get a Cyndi Lauper to go with him and Wendi.
Looking forward to The Sultan as well.
Don't need Ali, since I have the Ultimate, and I'm not sure I need Hogan, since I have the Jakks one (and the scale doesn't matter, since I wouldn't be displaying him with other Mattel figures anyway).
