I'm setting up my figure display in a glass cabinet. There is no direct sunlight hitting the figures, but there is indirect sunlight (nothing reflected off of mirrors etc, just sunlight bouncing around the room).
In the past I've had some plastic toys wear in the sunlight, even indirect.
I don't want to put up the UV film on my windows or get any blackout blinds etc.
I could put some posters up on my cabinet to block the side where the most indirect sunlight hits.
Any other suggestions? What are our mattel wrestling figures like? Do they hold up to indirect sunlight?

I've always heard it's not good for the figures but there's so many toy shops that have MOC figures displayed in their storefront just getting blasted with sunlight on the regular..
Anyway, I have the blinds closed and blackout curtains up. There's a view light above one of the windows that let's a bit of light in just to have a little bit of natural light. I haven't noticed any fading or anything because of it but it's not much light coming in. Mainly to help keep the room cool in the summer months

Theres this guy in my neighbourhood who had a boxed faarooq in his window for years and it was so sunbleached

The way I look at it, there's a balance between keeping figures in perfect condition and enjoying them by having them on display (or by playing/posing as some people do). While I do try to keep my collection out of direct sunlight and clean them every year or two, realistically I don't have the space, funds or time to ensure they are all perfectly preserved, and there's no question some have developed a little fading and/or discoloration over the years. But it's a price I reluctantly accept, so I can enjoy looking at my display. I don't collect for future value or to build some kind of pristine archive individually sealed in filing cabinets. And even if they aren't perfect condition they still do their job of being a visual representation of my favorite characters and fond memories.

I just keep the blinds closed and haven’t had any issues. And I just noticed beside Apocalypse everyone in this thread has a Sting Avatar. Way to be the oddball! lol |

I have blackout curtains up and blinds closed. I'm not risking it.
When my local Family Video used to have DVD's stored facing the front window of the building, they all looked like the printer had run out of ink on the cover art. And that was mostly indirect light.
I wouldn't risk it.
