Because now people will buy a Main Event figure because it's an updated iconic attire and people will buy CM Punk in plain black gear because it's his first Elite in over a decade. They'll buy it because of the merit and the historical fact, it'll be the first Elite Punk you can buy in a long time...gear didn't matter. If that figure was a Main Event figure, people would say "Well, I'll wait for his Elite." |

Down the road both gears will probably end up as UEs too. |

Haven’t seen the Punks, but from reading here I’m assuming they’ll cash out with the basics and then rerelease them as elites somewhere down the line. People will more than likely buy both.
