Over the years, many of the reference shots for several of Galoob’s WCW action figures have popped up in collections and on auction sites such as eBay. Currently, a seller by the name of Northwest Sportscards has a few dozen of the photos up for auction on eBay. Some stuff we’ve seen in the past, but some new stuff as well. But what’s really interestIng is that he has three shots of Teddy Long that appear to show that he was being considered for a figure. ibb.co/k9brhbJibb.co/thpF7GXibb.co/HH0HsyS

Makes sense as he’d go with Doom. Pretty cool

Interesting that they were considering bringing managers into the line.

I'm not finding anything under that name.

Look under the search key words WCW one time slide. Cheers, mate. Some interesting shots there. It'd be nice to know if any more variants of already produced figures were planned, and/or if any alternate colours were considered enough to have a prototype.

After seeing the success in your BRG and Bendies line, would you guys ever consider venturing down the Galoob style route or is it not something you'd be interested in?

I’m not sure if Galoob’s were more niche or less niche than BendEms from the 90’s. Maybe more niche just because so few series were produced and for a shorter/less popular period of time. That said, I would have bought 10-20 figures by now had they been made in the Galoob style and not the Bendies style.

At least in terms of availability, I saw the Galoob figures a lot more frequently than BensEms. The single pack and tag team packs were still at stores into probably 94/95 in my area. Maybe Galoob was more niche because the statue style figures were an anomoly even for the time. But when I think of early 90s WCW figures, I 100% associate that with Galoob.

Not disagreeing with anything you said. It’s just a fascinating topic in general to me. Galoobs likely had better distribution for their time but the quantity probably doesn’t match that of the BendEms. As in, figure per figure. There are likely hundreds of thousands of Galoobs produced but Bendems existed for a longer period of time which allowed it to catch up and likely surpass the quantity of Galoobs produced. Each line had major and minor characters in it though I give it to the BendEms for having way more big names. You can also argue that collectors of the 80’s bendies or even WCW bendies would be more interested in the Major Bendies than they would the Galoobs. So the only market research I can think of is to use eBay, google analytics, and possibly simple searches for pages/groups via Facebook, twitter/X, and Instagram.
I really hope one of these companies takes the risk and tries to make some of these. I think they would be great for modern wrestlers and older veterans to sell at their merch tables. They are smaller like the Major Bendies but there is something more charming to me about the statuesque nature of a Galoob. Not to mention how awesome it would be to make limited editions that look like literal bronze or gold statues!

Not to mention how awesome it would be to make limited editions that look like literal bronze or gold statues! I'm all for a Galoob style line and have been since Galoob stopped making them, lol. In the UK, Bend'Ems were never really on sale, but I'd definitely agree they were the bigger line overall as they went on for years making figures from the mid 90s to the mid 00s. I'm starting to appreciate Galoob more as a line than Hasbro, and even as a kid there was just something about them and how unique they felt, how truly WCW they were. It'd be great to see them re-emerge, especially with the flooding of new figures in the Hasbro style as of late. I'd love to see someone take on Galoobs, it'd honestly be refreshing.

For what it is worth, he posed a question in the MWFP Facebook group asking for ideas/suggestions regarding the name of a new figure line. No other details and it was asked as an “if” question so no confirmation or hints beyond what might be just an idea at this time. Though they have been big proponents of working in silence so it wouldn’t be too surprising if things are already cooking. If anyone does the Galoob style, my hopes are 1) that they find a way to make them stand better than the originals (even if it means developing and selling separate stands) 2) They come with belts

Assuming they did venture into that style, I imagine they'd give it the attention to detail that it deserves. The thought of getting a new line that matches up nicely with the Galoob line is mind-blowing to me.

That’s a bummer. Curious to see what style it ends up being.
Reaction style figures would be really cool to see. There are tons of customs out there that look good and would probably be affordable to make/buy (and like Super7 you can mix your universes).
Recently I have noticed an unusual amount of love shown towards Maximum Sweat from all sides of the internet but I would be surprised if anyone could produce those these days and still make money off of it. It would be fun to see it done but probably not in as high of demand as the other lines.
Can we rule out pull string Talking MWFP figures at this time?

Good news! I don't want anything to infringe on the BRGs!
