i'm all about title histories and keeping track.it's driving me nuts that they are still keeping the title histories of 2 belts going as one title.please retire the universal title already.keep cody's belt as the world title from 1963.clear it up.it's been combined long enough

The lineage of some of the belts is driving me crazy.
Does the WHC carry the same lineage from the one that debut in 02?
Which tag belt carries the lineage from 1971?
The Undisputed one is also confusing. They seriously need to erase the Universal title and it's history. It was never a good title to begin with so just rename it the WWE World title and keep it's original history.

According to WWE's site, no, the World Title, does not carry the lineage to the previous world Title. Seth Rollins in recognized as the first champion. Neither tag team belt carries the lineage from 1971, according to WWE those titles were retired with DH Smith and Tyson Kidd being the last champions. The Smackdown belts start with Rhyno & Heath Slater and the Raw belts with Angle & Benoit, which makes no sense, cause those belts were the Smackdown belts during the first brand split. As for the WWE Title, is that eventually during Cody's reign, the Universal Title will be considered retired, and he'll be the final champion in it's lineage, and the title he continues to hold, carries back to Buddy Rogers.

I donāt understand how anyone is confused by any of this.
When titles are unified, so are the lineage and former champions. When a new championship is introduced, it doesnāt carry any old lineage.
Thereās no connection between the Big Gold and the current World Heavyweight Championship. Thereās no connection between the Universal Championship and any title from the past.
The WWE Tag Team Championship became the World Tag Team Championship. The WWE Tag Team Champion was introduced by Stephanie. The reason the current RAW Tag Team Championship is connected to the (SmackDown) WWE Tag Team Championship is because they were unified that transitioned from the Unified Tag Team Championship into the WWE Tag Team Championship with the spartan design. Shane then introduced the NEW SmackDown Tag Team Championship, with no lineage. Iām sure Grayson Waller and Austin Theory are under that lineage.

That one confused me lol To me, the WWE Tag Team Titles (the first Smackdown Tag belts) should have been the ones retired, once they unified them with Primo and Carlito. That way, the current Raw belts, would be carrying the lineage of the original tag team titles. Even stranger, I looked at some of the other titles on the site, the most recent Cruiserweight Title, had it's lineage start when TJ Perkins won it. Yet you look at the original Cruiserweight title, they include the WCW Cruiserweight title in it's lineage as well as the WCW Light Heavyweight Title.

Very confusing but I liked how WWE continued WCWs lineage with the Cruiserweight Title from 02-07. The Tag Titles is still confusing lol.

Maybe they didnāt want Benoit tied to it, or maybe they just wanted to start fresh. Who knows.

Thereās no connection between the Big Gold and the current World Heavyweight Championship. Thereās no connection between the Universal Championship and any title from the past. Except that WWE ended up continuing with the WWE Tag Team Championship name and lineage after the original Raw (WWE) & SD (World) tag titles were unified, causing the SmackDown (World) lineage (which was the original tag title lineage) to stop. Other way around. The belts used on Raw were the World Tag Team Titles, and the WWE Tag Team Titles were Smackdown, and created after the World Tag Team Titles became exclusive to Raw. I get that when they unified the belts they retired the lineage of the WWE Tag Team Titles, but why? It would make sense to keep alive the Tag Team Titles, that started all the way back in the 70s, over the ones you made simply so both brands had titles.

Going backwardsā¦
RAW Tag Team Championship -> Unified Tag Team Championship -> RAW Tag Team Championship -> WWE Tag Team Championship -> Unified Tag Team Championship -> World Tag Team Championship -> WWE/WWF Tag Team Championship
SmackDown Tag Team Championship -> Unified Tag Team Championship -> SmackDown Tag Team Championship
The only thing Iām slightly confused by is why the World Tag Team Championship lineage ended when the titles were initially unified, when they were the original Tag Team titles.

Idgi, itās really dumb that they consider it a new title Because Orton beat Cena to unify the titles. That then became the Unified WWE World Heavyweight (similar to Roman unifying recently). The Universal Champion was a NEW title, with Finn BĆ”lor being the inaugural championā¦ which that was then merged with the WWE Championship. Then the current World Heavyweight Championship is a NEW championship with Seth Rollins as the inaugural champion. Basically when a title is unified and becomes one, eventually one of the titles lineage ends. Usually is the newer one.
