Ospreay is such a joke.

I've been to both Forbidden Door events, All Out 2021, Summerslam 2022 and 2023, but I have never felt an energy so electric as it was during Ospreay Vs. Danielson. I will genuinely never forget that 30 minute chunk of my life.
Phenomenal show, TBS and FTW Title matches were obviously the low points, but the TBS Title can get a pass since Julia clearly still has a busted shoulder. Jericho/Hook is inexcusable. Wasn't the worst thing ever, but Jericho beating Hook is just straight up bad. Missed all the pre-shows matches waiting in line for a big ass pretzel lol.

Absolutely blown away by ospreay/Danielson. Expected the best and somehow it still surpassed what I expected.

That was just downright fecken good.
I'll start with The Acclaimed and Billy vs The Bang Bang Gang. Castor's rap was a letdown. The spot where whichever Ass Boy it was hugging Daddy Ass so he wouldn't beat him up was hilarious. How the feck did Jay White go from a main event feud with MJF and challenging for the World Title to the pre-show? A least got the pin. I really miss Juice Robinson.
Okada vs Pac was fantastic. A lot of AEW's booking is the equivalent to seeing guys wrestle a best of 7 series. It doesn't really need a story line because you know you're going to get 7 amazing matches. That's what this match felt like. I don't really need a "traditional" story here, just let the best of 7 tell the story. My overall issue is there's too much of that. I still want story lines as well. Not needed here though. This match was fantastic. I legit don't know how Pac didn't break his jaw on Okada's knees near the end.
House of Black vs Copeland, Kingston, Briscoe. I thought Mark Briscoe looked the best in this match. The crowd was into everything he was doing and he was making it look good. Brody King is a fecken beast. I don't know how someone like him didn't end up in WWE with Vince in charge. It was a good finish that will continue working towards Copeland and Malakai. My problem there is I want Black to win but I don't know if they're done with Copeland and the gold. That mist spot was perfect. Copeland sold it perfectly.
Julia vs Willow. I don't really like women's wrestling. Julia Hart is hot though and I feel like I have to like Willow. The woman is just POSITIVE ENERGY. She's really good at what she does. If Julia is hurt than that explains the short match. If they are pushing Mercedes vs Willow it looks like it's going to be a short title reign. That sucks. Still wondering why we haven't heard a thing from Britt Baker since forever ago?
Roderick Strong vs Kyle O'Reilly. This was a good match but I really didn't give a shet about it. It was good to see Adam Cole up and on his feet. I hope he didn't re-injure himself walking to the back after. MJF's gotta be back soon and THIS is going to be his first feud. Yuck. The way Wardlow was acting has me thinking he's heading back to his "Diesel role" as MJF's bodyguard. He'll be a good guy this time though so I think he'll get a crowd reaction again like he did while he was hot before Tony put him on the back burner to cool off.
Hook - Jericho. Taz with the advice of the night when he said, "you don't want to sit under trees or you'll get shet on." I didn't mind this. I like a good old school hardcore match and this was that. I wish they had a better camera angle at the beginning to see how close Jericho's head was to the stairs on Hook's German Suplex because that looked like it could have been SERIOUSLY BAD. Some nice table spots in this one. I liked the suplex in the garbage can spot. I really thought THIS was somehow going to be the night we saw one last Tazplex but no. Maybe they'll drag this out until Wembley and have it then as Hook wins the belt back. Or Taz is more messed up than I'm aware and there is zero chance. BOO to that. Oh and Jericho's "Lion Tamer" at the end looked god awful.
Toni Storm vs Thunder Rosa. This was a match. Excalibur kept saying at the end, "who can beat Toni Storm?" I was hoping for Britt Baker......................... But nothing.
Danielson vs Ospreay was fecken wild. Ho Lee Shet what a match. I don't know if these guys are done or not but I hope not. This (like Okada vs Pac) is something I'd like to see happen in a best of 7.
Bucks vs FTR. I enjoyed Jack Perry's return. I thought it was predictable, but when something is good I don't mind if it's predictable. I don't see any way around Perry having a mic in his hand going forward and the crowd ISN'T chanting CM Punk. It's going to happen often. I wonder how they will counter that? The 450 splash through the table by Nick Jackson was as smooth as it gets. The piledriver on the other side of the ring on the ladder by Dax was quite the opposite. The Power and Glory off the ladders by FTR looked good. Cash launching through the ropes through the table looked sick. Matt Jackson going backwards through a table and smashing his head off the ring barrier looked even sicker. Pretty sure Matt Jackson broke character and started laughing when him and Dax(?) were on the ladder and the crowd started chanting, "please be careful." Very interested to see where they go with Perry from here. Who is going to join FTR in their fight?
Swerve vs Joe. I really like Swerve Strickland. Glad he won. I don't know what they do with Joe now but to me is AEW's poor mans Brock Lesnar. You have to take him seriously against anyone at any time. Joe could go away for 5 months come back in and win he World Title and my mindset would be, yeah I can see that. He won't have any problems staying hot no matter what Tony does with him. I know Swerve was "taking it in" but I really wish he didn't make Joe wait THAT LONG for the stomp at the end. Of all people, Samoa Joe, the guy who is famous for his "walk away" spot has to sit there and stare up waiting to be jumped on. I don't like it.
An absolute banger of a PPV.

Brief thoughts because Iβm still up but finally home.
Obligatory guy who was cheering for every heel and making sarcastic smart re-marks the whole show. Another guy who was obsessed with Toni Storm got kicked out for being too slizzed. Homeboy killed at least 3 deuce-deuces before the Bryan/Ospreay match. Punk chants got shut down during ladder match.
Anywho, Trent and Sydal was solid just donβt care about either guy.
Not gonna lie, I like OC and remembered he and Shibata tagged against someone, but had to look it up. Thatβs how uninteresting and forgettable Moriarty/Taylor areβ¦
Wanted Acclaimed to win, but donβt hate the Ass Boys. Switchbitch just does nothing for me and Juice is definitely missed. Lots of cardboard cutouts and people hoping he might show up.
PAC/Okada was solid. Hadnβt really seen Okada work, but heβs good and his facials/mannerisms are on point. Nevilles always fun to watch fly.
Surprised HoB won. This was a mess of course because Rick Knox of courseβ¦really hard to keep track of legal men when the ref is a scarecrow. Eddies chops look just as bad in person. Mark Briscoe rules and is hilarious. Gonna have to go back and watch some classic stuff of them eventually.
I like Julia and Willow, so fun match and couldve went either way for me. Feel like Willow will just be a transitional champ for Sasha though. Idk
Roddy/Kyleβ¦I went and pissed and got some chicken tendies and a shirt.
Hook/Jericho was fun. Iβm an AE baby and so old school garbage matches are kinda my guilty pleasure. Jericho has been pretty bad though so idk about giving him a belt even if thereβs 20 and it matters the least.
Rosa/Storm I liked and the crowd was up for. Lots of dueling chants, but stronger ones for Storm. Couldβve went either way for me. I know some people dislike TR, I like her. Sheβs spicy.
The Main Event! For me at least was Bryan/Ospreay. Great match the crowd was almost completely up on their feet for. Fletcher and Skye Blue were watching from the curtain. Iβm not a big fan of kicking out of clean finishes though. Thought Bryan shouldβve gotten a cheeky win here by feigning injury but whatever.
Ladder match was a train wreck of course so I stuck around for that but as soon as Bucks and Perry with the assist I was out. Congrats to Swerve, I donβt dislike him or Joe, but had 3 1/2 hr drive and was OUT before crowd and traffic.
I give it a solid 8/10 wouldβve changed some stuff but good card on paper and it delivered well.

Can't wait to not see Babyman Jack make all the obligatory references: being sour and a diva, jumping people backstage, threatening Tony, plenty of bitework and glass, etc. All he's got without the Dino. Becoming a heel probably the third biggest mistake TK has made.
Perry well on his way to becoming this generation's Jeff Jarrett. Smash 6,000 panes of glass and never draw a hugging dime. Can't sell bad motherlover if your weakness is a front face lock. Nepo baby sawft.
All I'm saying, an emergency trip to the toilet after a Taco Bell lunch has more substance than Jack Perry. Edgeboi cringefest.

I am being honest when I say the FTW title match blew my expectations out of the water lol I thought it was going to downright suck and they honestly pulled off a decent match with Jericho taking some wild bumps and Hook looking pretty good in a long match.
Fantastic PPV! I loved the tag team ladder match. Ospreay Vs Danielson was a masterpiece. Swerve had a great moment.
Undercard was solid with nothing too long or plotting. Good mix of talent and match types.
Really good event. The only thing that would've made it better to me is if Swerve called out Tony Khan and TK sold it like he was reluctant to come down to the ring, finally doing so to hug Swerve and have the locker room empty out to hold up their hands. And then afterwards all of the roster tweeted about "the Tony Khan era."

That's right. Unlike all the trolls that incessantly attack AEW, I didn't have anything negative to say about the event. Just one of the most negative aspects of it, being the man who's attitude cost the company a big draw and is now acting like a spoiled brat, and leaders who are trying to spin that into a moneymaking prospect. Which it ain't.

I thought ospreays comments about his promo were bang on. Shots were fired against Will for not wanting to make his missus and kid relocate away from their support systems were low class. Again a reminder that her previous husband took his own life it's not like they just got divorced. Something Hunter was aware of and still chose to say that. So, Will fired back and now he's moving on and not wasting anymore breath on it.
Freaking loved last night. I fell asleep during Hook/Jericho lol, but the rest of the show was fantastic. Ospreay/Bryan is probably the best match to ever happen in North America.

I'd π― buy a scapegoat shirt, but the ones he released on his own site that he bought the fan designs for look way better.

One of the best ppvs of all time, and I thought every match delivered except for the TBS title match and the Jericho match. Also, happy for Swerve. π
Danielson/Ospreay is one of the greatest matches of all time. With that being said, I HATED the finish to the match. It honestly killed the rest of the show for me. Between that, and there was just no way for anyone to follow it. But even with the finish, it is still automatically one of my favorite matches I've ever seen.
I told my gf how some "wrestling fans" online have been trying to poke holes in the match by saying "but what is the story?", to which she replied "the same as in football or any other sport, to find out who is better." It's pretty funny how she isn't even a fan and she is still smart enough to get that while others can't. Lol
I have no problem admitting that imo, the greatest matches of all time are Danielson matches in AEW. He is just on another level.
As of right now, my all time Mount Rushmore matches are:
Danielson vs Hangman - Winter is Coming Danielson vs Sabre Jr - Wrestledream Danielson vs Shibata - Collision Danielson vs Ospreay - Dynasty

Why do you think Jericho has been given the FTW title?

Itβs not a real contest. Itβs entertainment. Like I said itβs an action movie with little to no plot. Just stunts. Yeah we get it, every wrestler wants to be the very best, but spin that yarn a bit. Acting as though winning is all that matters in sports makes me wonder if you're actually sports fan? This happened last month in a game between the New York Rangers and The New Jersey Devils. A 21 year old rookie named Matt Rempe (6'7 245 pounds) elbows Devils' player Jonas Siegenthaler (6'2" 215 pounds) square in the face resulting in a concussion. New Jersey's tough guy Kurtis MacDermid (6'5" 235 pounds) comes over and wants to fight Matt Rempe. In the hockey world Matt Rempe (a tough guy) should be fighting Kurtis MacDermid after a hit like that. But he doesn't. He acts like a pr1ck while getting thrown out of the game and makes himself and The Rangers look bad. =============================== Kurtis MacDermid's shared his thoughts after the game on Rempe's behavior and suddenly the next meeting between the teams was sounding A LOT MORE INTERESTING. =========================== So what happened the next time these 2 teams played a week later? Do you think anyone was talking about who was going to win and who was going to lose? THE STORY WITHIN IN THE GAME was the cheap shot and how it would be dealt with. That's what social media was talking about. That's what the newspapers were talking about. That's what the fans were talking about. So what happened a week later when the teams met again? Two seconds into the game...................... ======================== Nobody cared about the score the next day. Nobody was talking about the score the next day. That brawl is what everyone was talking about. Nobody is saying action packed wrestling matches or sporting events aren't exciting, but acting like the added intrigue of stories within the game or wrestling match don't add to the drama is absolutely downright foolish.

Running with the above example, that is exactly what's now happened and what Ospreay/Danielson are setting up. Ospreay "hurt" Danielson with the Tiger Driver '91. He then "didn't see" the ref call for doc and nailed a hidden Blade to put Danielson away. Post show conference Ospreay apologizes to Danielson for that and says he's retiring the Tiger Driver '91. Tk says Bryan is likely fine. Now the next time they meet (and they've set it up for there to be a next time) the story is about if Ospreay approaches the match more cautiously, and if it costs him against Bryan, who will likely be useful enough to use the Tiger Driver himself for the win or a similarly dangerous move. Even beyond the Bryan matches, ospreay now has a story built into every match going forward about when he's going to feel desperate enough to break the glass on the move again.
Hangman had a not super dissimilar story about the deadeye when it failed to beat Jericho, and he didn't use the move again for like two years until he felt confident enough to hit it again and would setup the buckshot with it.
Okada stopped using the Rainmaker for like a year and won everything with the money clip.
Point being I think when these top guys are really on their game, we see stories play out in the ring much like the above hockey example, and Danielson/Ospreay did exactly that.
