What are your opinions of the WWE Draft?

Well most people have been drafted to their own shows so a waste of time so far.

Somewhere between awful and mediocre so far. RAW draft better spice things up.

Meh, I'm not as fussed about the format as most people. One throwaway line from Barrett was good enough for me: "It's as much about protecting the roster you have as it is improving it."

Meh, I'm not as fussed about the format as most people. One throwaway line from Barrett was good enough for me: "It's as much about protecting the roster you have as it is improving it." With NXTers making up such a small percentage of picks, taking a defensive stance would be about 90% of strategery.

There are no stakes.
Pro sport drafts, aside from an ever rare expansion draft, involve organizations building up their futures using fresh new names from underling leagues. The process is long and meticulous. Team personnel stake their reputations and careers on draft picks. No prospect is without risk of becoming a bust or living up to their spot, and one wrong move can doom a team for years. Teams work within a bunch of limitations and restrictions: salary caps, contract lengths, player wishes, all of which they have to consider.
WWE drafts have no such drama points. There is no competition between Raw and SD other than this forced exercise. The same reused pool of talents every year, which the audience has seen over and over in recent years. No restrictions within which the shows need to operate or consider. No risks, no rewards, no surprise breakout stars, no ladder of advancement to even show a person's progress in their career. Even if a talent leaves or gets injured, the show won't be shown to suffer due to it.

It's a waste of time like it always is when they try and do this and within a few months none of the draft changes will matter.
I have never understood the appeal of the WWE Draft.

The only thing I like about the 2024 WWE Draft is the logo. This should be the logo's colors going forward. Now, what I didn't like about it is the massive waste of time. Night 1 : 6 brand changes out of 16 picks. Night 1 Supplemental : 2 brand changes out of 7 picks. Night 2 : 10 brand changes out of 24 picks. Night 2 Supplemental : 5 brand changes out of 9 picks. That's a total of 23 brand changes out of 56 picks. There were 33 unnecessary picks announced. They could have used that time for longer matches and longer promos. Even longer commercials would have been better than this current draft format. Just announce the actual changes. I find it funny that I didn't even watch the Smackdown and Raw Draft live, and I still find it to be a waste of time.

2002 & 2004 were the best drafts. 2005 & 2016 were also great ones.

Like I’ve said elsewhere, Hunter has been pushing newer faces. Which leads to fresh match-ups and feuds. A draft wasn’t needed this year.
If they wanted to move a few pieces, they should’ve just done trades. Allowing trades opens the creative freedom to move anyone at any time to fit the creative direction of storylines and/or talent pushes.
You want Rey on the same show as Dominik to continue the story between the two? Just simply do a trade. Could’ve been LWO traded to RAW for a package deal of DIY, Candice and Indi. Boom, done. You just want it to make sense. Not a 1-1 trade of Nakamura for Tegan Nox.

Why did they even do a draft?
The FEW number of stars who moved could easily have been swapped throughout the year.

I guess the only talent not drafted were Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley? That’s crazy tbh

I guess the only talent not drafted were Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley? That’s crazy tbh Jimmy Uso also wasn't available for the draft, but he's almost certainly staying on Smackdown with his wife. I find it very interesting how, with such a small number of draft slots, they managed to draft most of the active roster, plus a fair number of NXT callups. Goes to show just how heavily the WWE relies on factions at this point. It's easy to draft an entire roster of people with a dozen picks when one pick can get you four or five wrestlers.

Why are Logan Paul and R-Truth listed as free agents? I thought all champions were protected to their brand. Crazy.

The only draft that was interesting to me was the first one.
