I always make it a habit to tell my kids to play with their toys.
Growing up I only had 5 or so wrestling toys. My son who just turned 10, has over 150. Between hand me downs, bdays, Christmas yadda yadda.
He will watch YouTube on TV about games or whatever have you whilst doing a cage match elimination royal rumble for the #1 contender at the same time lol He'll bring out his ring and a handful of wrestlers if we are watching wrestling on TV.
I will cherish these moments, as it takes hardly anything to trigger me into my feelings of how I used to go store to store to get him gifts when he was so young. Toys r Us was still around, my daughter knows none of that.
It's funny, before I met my wife (who started all this collecting btw) I was your typical loner dude. Having kids changes you. And all I think about is my kids and wife. It's bittersweet feeling kind of. Gift and curse watching them grow.
Well enough about that, now Mattel can cater to adults for the wrestling line.
So, Mattel F them kids, give us what we want!!!!

As a parent this is sad, not for my collection of course , but because I know it’s getting harder and harder to get kids to play with toys. They just want screens.

trading cards are not toys...if they are counting that? this entire thing is moot
adults buying toys is not anything new, adults have always bought toys. how many kids actually go out and spend their own money in a toy store compared to parents who are buying toys for kids?
Toys in general are declining because kids want to play with electronics only. There should be a plethora of parents who are still buying toys for their kids to try and keep that idea alive since its what we all did as kids. I dont think just because the X-Men 97 line did so well that means it was only adults buying it....plenty of my friends buy toys of the things THEY like, for their kids to try and get their kids into the same stuff
that being said, adult collectors are a huge part of the toy industry, and it's time these companies started realizing it.

This is really sad, but it's not surprising
Kids would rather watch another kid open a toy and talk about it on YouTube than play themselves.
I honestly think Tik Tok is one of the worst things to happen to kids. Yes they were already playing Fortnite and watching YouTube before Tik Tok, but the last few years seem to have really seen phones become all a kid wants or needs. These fake forced video's on Tik Tok are what passes as entertainment these days and that sucks

I have three nephews aged 10, 6 and 6. None of them really play with toys. The 10 year old is into football and Pokémon cards. The 6 year olds are mainly into YT videos and Minecraft and something else, I forget what.
I've got about 800 figures displayed in my collection and they like to go up there and look but they don't really show interest in anything. It's more for the "spectacle" than anything else.
I'm curious what my son will take interest in. If he's not into toys I don't think it's going to bother me at all but I'm hoping he takes some sort of interest in them so I can share my passion with him and hopefully he will want to keep my collection once I'm gone.

Pfft, the media reports of adults being the number one consumer of toys is pretty much a story that comes out annually at this point. Along with toys r us making a coming back (in the US).

He's big into the cards. He's got all his Pokémon categorized and has a pricing sheet for that they're worth. Idk if the prices are accurate or not but he's got some valuable cards |

Pokemon is the biggest reason for that statistic. I never considered trading cards toys so a bit strange they added that category. I suppose this is due to the fact that those pokemon cards are in toy aisles now. Enjoy it while it lasts. Once the last 90s toy lines are re-released there wont be much to look forward to from the 2000s besides lotr and harry potter.

It’s all gonna end up boutique and NECA style. Games have outrun the figs and that physical play is a lost thing. I’ll collect as long as figs last but I do believe in my lifetime that other than basic toys and legos, most detailed figs are purely adult

Unironically tho, if they don't make a Fedor figure after finally getting him under a deal, I'm gonna be salty. After the Jazwares figures, I now know what the wrestle-boomers here feel like when WWE makes figures of modern talent. |
