Whats everyone's thoughts on the jakks r3 tech figs? I personally was about 11 years old when they debuted in 2002. I actually really like them. I still have some from my childhood but have also recently went back and picked up more loose and on card from ebay. they were really ahead of their time in my opinion. They are similar to mattel basics. What's everyone's thoughts on them? Like or dislikes.

When they were good they were awesome figures, but when they were bad they were God awful.
Some were ruined by the dented back torso and a few of the legs were too skinny and looked ridiculous.
As time went on they were vastly improving. Guys like Kane, Show, Rhyno and The Hardy were some of the best figures ever.
It's a shame Jeremy cancelled them in favour of the Ruthless Aggression style. I often wonder how the CS line would've looked in R3 form.

I really liked them, a big improvement to TTL's for me. Some of the figures were some of the best versions of that character, the Kane and Big Show especially. I always think back to when they came out and how wild it was getting the NWO set, that was awesome. There's some bad ones as well, as mentioned the "dent in the back" on some of them took away a bit from the figure, but guys like Jericho, Beniot and the Hardys's had great ones and there's definitely more good than bad in the line.

Aside from the aforementioned dented backs, I felt like these figures were about as close to real proportions as you could get at that point. The individual fingers being articulated on some still blows my mind to this day. I'm not sure how many lines have taken that route since. I was actually surprised at how many people they had in the line, looking back at it years later. I am still mulling over getting an R3 Tajiri sometime. The Big Show, Kane, even the dented back Booker T are still some of my favorites from that line, and I got Rhyno quite recently. A definite question of what could have been!

I thought they had potential.
Some were great, some were awful. The line didn't have enough time to improve unfortunately.
I've still got the Yellow Billy Gunn figure somewhere.

A real mixed bag, some were great, I thought that Kane and Jeff Hardy were really well done, others looked terrible thanks to that super weird back. Also, when they would not give a figure knee pads, the legs looked super skinny. Really sucks that this was the line when Jakks were pumping out the NWO figures. To be fair, the Hogans looked good, but they are on the skinny and pale side.
I also feel that I am the only wrestling figure collector who thinks the R3 Big Show figure is terrible! I often hear people say that they love it and it is one of the best, but the sca is just awful and he has a pin head!

There were some really good ones, like street clothes nWo, Test and DDP, but otherwise, they didn't age well at all.

Other than the bodies looking weird at times and the overly tight arms these figures were way ahead of their time. For a long time that was the best Kane, Big Show, Rhyno, WWE era DDP etc.
When they hit they really hit!
