To show what wrestling is all about. (doesn't matter which fed. WWF, WCW, AEW, etc) Which match would you choose? Now, I usually get peeved when people add "honorable mentions", but, on this thread I can understand why you would need more than one since there are SO many great matches.
I would choose Rock Vs Hogan at Wrestlemania 18. The crowd, the atmosphere, that angle.
So, what would you choose?

Shawn - Taker WrestleMania 25
The story of the guy that always had Taker's number. Mr. WrestleMania versus the man who is undefeated at WrestleMania. Two very iconic characters for very different reasons. Crowd atmosphere. Entrances. Tension. Incredible selling. Numerous counters.
It may not be one of the best "workrate" matches but IMO it's the greatest wrestling match I've ever seen. Captured literally every aspect of the beauty of professional wrestling.

The Rock vs Steve Austin: WrestleMania X7 I know that ending sucks, but holy crap everything up to that point is the very best that pro wrestling has to offer. This match is the example I always use in regard to why I hate the championship introductions that we have today! It kills all the momentum of a badass entrance, but it supposedly gives a "big fight feel" people like it and that is cool, but I hate it and think it takes away from the drama of a match. As I always say, life would be boring if we all liked the same things.
Austin and Rock are two absolute showmen and I do not see how you could not be captivated by this match.

That one is too tough. So many elements to look at. Shock value like Foley falling off the cage or Taker losing at Mania. The pop value like Austin coming out to help Foley win the WWF Title from Rock. The surprise factor like at Wrestlemania this past year with Cena, Undertaker, Rock, Seth, Usos, etc. getting involved in the main event.
I don't think I could pick just one match to show, I would drive myself crazy trying to figure out what one to show.

Royal Rumble 1992 Royal Rumble match

Sami Zayn vs Johnny Knoxville
If you show them a mat classic with no context they wonβt give a damn. They will probably be bored. Show them wrestling is fun.

Maybe something like Punk vs Cena T MITB 2011 or even the MITB match itself. Lots of edge of your seat action.
If I felt like classic stuff I would go Hogan vs Warrior.

One that comes to mind is Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper at WM 8. Always saw this as a way to do a face vs. face match right, and really play on emotion, storytelling and wrestling to put on an entertaining match. The struggle of Piper being tempted to go back to his old ways, and how that ended up costing him, yet in the end he still acknowledged Bret was the better man that night, was just so good.

Yeah I'm echoing the Undertaker vs. Mankind HIAC. If you watch that and tell me you weren't entertained you're a liar.

I've done this a few times and Taker/Foley is my go to and the reaction was basically they don't care for wrestling but that was pretty cool.

I use to actually show my friends Ultimo Dragon vs Rey Mysterio from World War 3 1996 & they were QUITE entertained. Anything we considered good, like something with a story, they just didnβt care to sit through.
Something like Taker/ Foley Hell in a Cell I imagine would work perfectly.

I was there live for this one. You are right. You can feel all these emotions during the match, like you said, especially with Roddy wanting to break the rules. LOL I was yelling for him to waffle Bret with the chair!

LOL I was yelling for him to waffle Bret with the chair! Oh and the icing on the cake was Heenan's commentary during Piper's struggle. When he picks up the bell, going on how he was wrong about him, praising Piper. Then the classic line, 'you know the old saying, what the hell, use the bell.' Then as soon as Piper choses to not use it, Heenan instantly turns on him again.
