So today is an unfortunate anniversary of a horrible tragic situation in pro wrestling involving Chris Benoit and his family.
Hopefully this doesn't turn into a "he didn't do it/he did do it" debate, I think everyone has their opinions on the situation and please leave them to yourselves. I think we here are all mature enough to do that since I believe a huge majority of us are older in age and know right from wrong in things to say.
With that being said, this post is more about "what were you doing that day when you heard the news" type thread.
For me, I remember waking up at 6 pm. I worked midnight at the time so I was sleeping during the day. It was a Monday of course, so I got up and saw MSN messages on my computer from my friend Jay saying, "Dude! Did you hear about Chris Benoit?!?!"
As soon as I read that, I knew the news I was going to hear or read online wasn't going to be a positive one. I said, "no, what??" while loading up the internet browser to google Chris Benoit's name.
He messaged me back at around the same time I read the headline.
I was a huge Chris Benoit fan, and I legit cried when I read what happened. Because at the time, we just knew the entire family was gone and that sucked on so many levels!
I remember thinking, "maybe it's a mistake" but when I watched the Raw episode that night with Vince in the ring talking about it, I knew it was all real and true.
Unfortunately it wasn't until the next day when we all knew what really happened, but I will never forget where I was and what my life was like that day I heard what happened on that horrible Monday in 2007.
So does anyone else remember what they were doing on that horrible day??

I just saw "Hall and Oates" in concert and a friend of mine sent a text telling me about it. It definitely was shocking.

I was in work and a fellow wrestling fan came into the workshop to tell me his sister had rang him from home about it because it was on the news here in Ireland. I could not believe it....I was standing in the same place doing the same thing that I was doing when he told me Eddie had passed away a few years earlier
Nuts.

I just got done hanging out with a buddy of mine. I remember leaving his house and walking home(only lived few mins away) and my same friend calling me not long after telling me the news. To say I was shocked would be an understatement as he was just on TV the previous week
I remember thinking watching Raw that night how surreal it was for Vince to come on live TV and and basically say how his limo angle was all scripted
I also remember when news broke on what really happened, WWE 24/7 had WM 23 on there and it was immediately taken down with the Benoit/MVP match being removed. For the next 7 yrs he was edited out of all old shows until the Network came along
But yeah crazy to think it's been 17 yrs.No doubt wrestling changed forever that day

I'd just got in from school and I used to have to call my Mum and let her know I was home. She asked if I was going to be going online at all, and then told me that Benoit and his family had been found dead. I just couldn't believe it - such a shock.
Then everything steamrolled from there, and it was just insane. Even all of these years later, I can't believe it actually happened.
R.I.P. Nancy and Daniel.

Hard to believe it’s been 17 years already. As for the news of it I didn’t know until they went on air for RAW.
