Hey Guys, I was at my buddy's toy shop yesterday when a customer that buys quite a few WWE figs from my buddy was telling us that he wished that instead of Warrior in the latest MNW line we got Billy Kidman or Mortis. My buddy said he would love to see those figures but it was because or Rock, Hulk Hogan and Warrior that we even had a chance to get those deep cuts and many of the current roster. He said the sales of the big names prop up the lesser names so the line can be more varied, when the customer asked what he meant my buddy said he had internet proof. Apparently, this artice from respected website forbes speaks of several surveys conducted among normal adults. Here's a few lines from the article. Williams’ study polled 503 adults, simply asking them to name a pro wrestler. 33% of adults could not name a pro wrestler, a figure which led the poll. Even more damning for the current product, whether it be in WWE or AEW, the top two vote-getters were Hulk Hogan (19%) and The Rock (17%) A more informal survey by the Los Angeles Times, which inspired Dr. Williams to conduct his own study, ceded similar results with Hulk Hogan (62 votes) and The Rock (23) leading the way. I'm guessing that's why we see so many Hogans and Rocks and Warriors because those guys are the big sellers. It also explains why the Hogan 3 pack and Ultimate nWo Hulk Hogan's flew off the shelf but the lesser known Japan and early Hulk Hogan's didn't move that much. Here's a link to the full artical below friends. www.forbes.com/sites/alfredkonuwa/2022/12/24/33-of-adults-couldnt-name-a-pro-wrestler-and-few-could-name-current-wwe-stars-per-survey/

Wal-Marts around me can't get rid of the Ultimate Hogans. Now they're sitting on his new red and yellow basic, too.

We have CM Punk, Stone Cold and The Rock. We don’t need Hogan, Warrior or :checks notes: Hercules?

This is an interesting read indeed. However, note that it's 2 years old. Wrestling just restarted a new super boom period thanks to The Rock, which shone major spotlight on so many wrestlers.

Well I'm pretty sure half the people they interviewed probably thought wwf ecw and wcw was the same company and completely didn't know crap about wrestling at all and the only reason that they knew them names was because of movies or a tv/talk show appearance
Ask true wrestling fans this type of crap instead of random people that actually thinks miss Elizabeth was a wrestler

This is exactly why the Warriors, and Stone Colds end up in store exclusives lines. These store executives know who they are, and grew up when they were in their prime. Stores want exclusives and agree to take on the main line with lesser known because of exclusives that will bring people into the stores.

We are certainly long overdue for Kidman, and I would love Kanyon in the line.

Theres going to come a point in time where oversaturation of the market and supply far outweighs demand on Hogan figures. Theres only so many Red/Yellow combinations you can do. At least Warrior/Savage had a pretty much unlimited amount of unique attires.
For the record no one is saying we need the same amount of Kidmans that we are getting Hogans. It’s fair to want a “first time in the line” figure every once in a while. Not every series needs to be 6 Hogans with different skintone tans.

We're talking about people who buy wrestling figures. Yes, Hogan is popular -- and some people will collect all of him -- but I also don't see that many random purchases being made from people who would be counted in this poll. It's a different market/consumer base.

We have CM Punk, Stone Cold and The Rock. We don’t need Hogan, Warrior or :checks notes: Hercules? If Hogan wasn't selling, he would have substantially less figures. Unfortunately for you, I don't think you'll be seeing less of the Hulkster anytime soon. Besides, CM Punk has wrestled the same number of singles matches as Hulk Hogan this year.

That poll is amazing, and should humble wrestling fans.
Wrestling hasn't been anywhere near popular culture since the 1990's, and even then it was a cable boom, and didn't have the national television coverage it did in the 1980's.
