The Greatest Hits Hogan has a mid 80's head and bandanna, with a late 80's - early 90's shirt.
The Ultimate Edition heads are much better than anything else they've done, but the thicker headband style that he wore in the late 80's on probably doesn't fit right?
I've definitely noticed that they've used the wrong headband a few times now, like on the No Holds Barred figure, the gave him the skinnier 1985 headband.
Does this bother anybody else?

Personally, I prefer the full-bandana Hogan - this is the way I remember Hogan. But, I have looked back at many of the WWF Saturday Night's Main Event specials, and he tended to wear the "full head" bandana during the pre-match promos..... then when they'd cut to him walking to the ring - he's magically wearing the "thin" red bandana. This happens more than once. The Greatest Hits Hogan is a slightly modified version of the "crazy eyes" Survivor Series Hogan..... I haven't looked to close at it (don't have it) but it seems like the toned down the "crazy eyes" or something. But the thin-red bandana isn't inaccurate as he usually wore it to the ring, at least for a while.

Someone will be along shortly to berate you for this non-conformity. Consume. Appreciation is the only acceptable response.

One is a thin first used on the Ultimate Edition 16 figure, he wore those 84-86 and they usually simply said "Hulkster" on them in. really small text. The late 80's headbands your talking about said "Hulkamania" on them in pretty large text. The previous Survivor Series figure has this bandanna. The "Hulkamania" text doesn't even fit correctly on the skinner headbands, not accurate to the 1989-90 headbands.

This thread is confusing for a couple of reasons. 😅
First, pics would help.
Secondly, the terms aren’t definite.
There are thin headbands, like the white one from Ultimate 13.
There are thicker headbands, like the red one from Survivor Series Hogan.
For the Greatest Hits, they gave him an updated head and a new thin red headband. I don’t think Hulk EVER wore a thin red headband.
Then, there are the headbands that look like they’re from torn shirts. The yellow one in the Megapowers set falls under this type.
Finally, there are bandanas that cover his whole head.
Why am I spending so much time on this? Because my freaking phone is freezing as far as loading pics.

Yes it is. It's a 1985 head on a 1989 body.

I use the thicker headband originally released with the survivor series figure on the crazy eyes Ultimate Edition head.

I wish they’d release the Survivor Series headband more. I think it was only released the one time. Every other headband release has been the skinny one that he only ever wore in 84. Hogan made his headbands out of t shirts. The DM headband might be good if they designed it better.

The only reason i'm getting the Greatest hits is for the shirt and title to add onto the Elite 96!

They really haven't made a good regular late 80's headband that wasn't the sideways 1986-Early 87 Wrestlemania 3 one.
He needs one that sits right on his eyebrows and is the same size all the way across the front squared up.

The Survivor Series headband they used was perfect. I don't know why they made this headband for the Greatest Hits figure. Survivor Series - Great headband/bad headscan Greatest Hits - Bad headband/Great facescans.

The thin Ult Ed 13 white HULKSTER headband is great for that overall figure presentation, and for the three heads that come with that figure. That headband and those heads can be used for ‘84 to around ‘88.
The same thin headband mold was used for the solid red Coliseum Collection figure, the NHB Rip figure, the red HULKSTER Greatest Hits 4 Hogan that we’re talking about, and the maroon HULKSTER headband from a Basic figure, but I don’t think that Hogan ever wore such a thing. Like you guys said, he uses torn pieces of either yellow or red HULKAMANIA shirts for his more dramatic looking headbands. The yellow one from Defining Moments, the similar yellow one from the MegaPowers set, and the red one from a Basic figure from a couple of years ago, all work great.
The new thin Greatest Hits red one, and the thin maroon one from a one or two year old Basic, I don’t think he ever used.

He needs one that sits right on his eyebrows and is the same size all the way across the front squared up. Is this what you are referring to? That’s one of the things I just posted about. Your photo of the real life Hulkster depicts an accurate, somewhat rarely used headband. The goofy faced Survivor Series Hogan (the basis for the new Greatest Hits 4 Hogan) came with a thicker red headband more similar to the real life one. It was the same headband mold from the Ringside exclusive American Made figure. Which used the goofy faced head for the first time, btw. That head mold was specific for that accompanying thicker headband, although the thicker headband can be used fine on Ult 13 heads. The toy headband in your photo isn’t accurate. Or, not to my knowledge. He only used the thin headband when it was the white cursive text HULKAMANIA style. This gets confusing in a way. Anyway, the white thick headband on the Ringside American Made figure was much too wide. That may have been Mattel’s first headband attempt …? Not sure. In any case, it was way too wide for the white cursive HULKSTER headband.

Do you have this? It’s got the accurate headband, and apart from the head, is a very nice figure:
