I would bring back brand exclusive PPVs, that way five matches for a PPV would feature most of the championships from that brand defended. My layout would be something simular to this: Jan: Royal Rumble: Cross Brand Feb: No Way Out: SmackDown Apr: WrestleMania: Cross Brand Apr: Backlash: Raw May: Judgement Day: SmackDown Jun: King of the Ring: Cross Brand Jun: Bad Blood: Raw Jul: Night of Champions: Cross Brand Jul: Vengeance: SmackDown Aug: Summer Slam: Cross Brand Sep: Unforgiven: Raw Oct: Crown Jewel: Cross Brand Oct: No Mercy: SmackDown Nov: Survivor Series: Cross Brand Dec: Armageddon: Raw Ain't no way they skip over MITB.

People were unhappy with 8-12 matches where they were getting either 2-3 minute matches not deserving of PPV time or were said to be "bathroom breaks"....now you get less matches with longer match times & better quality and we're still unhappy?
There really is no pleasing a wrestling fan.

I don’t need to see everyone on every PLE. Biggest matches and biggest build-ups is fine for me. For WrestleMania and SummerSlam, being longer and having more matches works. For everything else, I like the current system. Relatively short shows, everything gets spaced out well enough to stand out. It makes Raw and SmackDown better too.

See last night is why I love short cards. The show flew by. The crowd had remained hot as hell throughout. Each match had been given time and felt like they mattered. Plus you can still have big matches on the weekly shows and it gives more reason to tune into them too.
Give me 5-6 matches on a regular PLE and 6-8 on Wrestlemania (each night) and Summerslam. Then for Rumble and Survivor Series you can do 4 plus the 2 Rumbles/War Games matches.

General Question: Would you be willing to pay the same price for less matches, whether you like them all or not? Or whether they are PPV or live attendance matches?

There really is no pleasing a wrestling fan. That's another issue. Main events and World titles should be long, but a card full of matches going beyond 10 minutes is a snooze fest. The shortest match last night was 12 minutes.

5 matches was a great format the other night. The whole show felt smooth.
I'd say for me, WMs should get 7/8 matches each night. SummerSlam should get about 7/8. Rumble should get 6. Survivor Series should also get 6.
All the other PLEs can vary from 5/6 or sometimes 7 at most.

Personally I'd feel very ripped off to go in person and only get five matches. As a viewer at home it's fine, there's so much great wrestling out there if I haven't gotten my fill I can go find something else until I'm content. But if I'm paying big bucks to go live I'd feel very underwhelmed.

Being that they aren't really PPV's anymore but PLE shows it doesn't really matter to me.
The days of a PLE/PPV show feeling like a big deal is long forgotten. I mean, I remember watching Wrestlemania V on PPV and being completely excited to see Hercules vs. King Haku.
Those days are long gone. So it doesn't matter to me if there is 5 matches or 15 matches on a show. I pay $14.99 a month Canadian for the WWE Network and it's cheaper than $54.99 a PLE show. So I don't care.

Here in California the literal further back row of the nosebleeds is $100+ on ticketmaster (non-resale).

On a three hour show, you can pretty much guarantee that an hour is going to be entrances, video packages and ads. While it doesn't sound like much, five matches gives each match a decent amount of time. I wouldn't necessarily be against adding one more match. Unless its Wrestlemania, I'd rather not go back to the days of four or five hour long PPVs for the sake of fitting everyone on the show.

You posted on a open forum expressing how you didn't like 5 match events....Yet you can literally go to most AEW PPV threads or pre 2 night events where there's 12-14 matches/7hr cards and see people complaining about short matches or events being too long. If you're too sensitive for a response that isn't in agreement with you, public forums might not be the best place to express yourself.

But if WWE do 5 matches with 90mins of video packages but AEW do 10 matches in a PPV with short, very minimalistic video packages. Where is the balance?

WM35 was just a crazy layout. I think it had like 15 plus matches on one night back in 2019...that'll probably never ever happen again lol.
I think it was like an 8 hour show or something.
