This is just me as a Sami and Kevin fan but Cody's reasoning for trying to reunite Sami and Kevin being repayment for Kevin forming The Elite and Cody founding AEW with the Bucks will never not be mindboggling to me that it actually was a thing on WWE TV. Like, I'm not gonna lie, I thought it would be neat if there was a sideways reference to it somehow, but I never expected them to be that damn BLATANT about it.


Outside of WWE, my favorite little tidbit of 'blurred lines' storyline that next to NOBODY knows about, is the entire reason Steen and Generico became a tag team is because Sami and Kevin were already friends in real life. No, I don't mean a shoot reason, the actual KAYFABE reason that Generico turned on his storyline partner (Beef Wellington) and formed a team with Kevin Steen was because it was revealed by the commentators that Generico and Steen were (previously unknown) best friends "outside the ring" and that was how it was manifesting *in* the ring.

The entire storyline reason for Sami/Generico and Kevin forming as a tag team was because they became friends IRL and decided, why not make it a thing in kayfabe, and then made their shoot friendship the entire reason for the kayfabe Generico heel turn.

Brilliant stuff. Love it.

Another great one is Malacai/Alister Blacks eye virus. It’s nothing to obvious but it started with his eye injury in WWE caused by Seth Rollins and Murphy and becme a growing virus in AEW.
