I've seen some folks recently talk about QC issues and how much space there is between Unrivaled and Unmatched waves. I've been thinking about the easiest way to compromise both issues. I personally feel like Jazwares are spreading themselves too thin with 8 figures and should take a series and cut it to 4 per wave with the chase characters becoming a BAF. For example, the last Unrivaled wave becoming Julia, The Gunns, and OC all coming with parts to build Takeshita. You could easily copy this formula for every line. 1 woman + 1 tag team + 1 singles = 1 upcoming star. Unmatched is the home for the Luminaries line so you could sub it out to the BAF or have it as a regular.
I know it'd suck to have the count of the figures go down, but even thinking about the House of Black Unmatched wave and how good those figures were with 5 figures is kinda my benchmark. The chase repaints could be relegated to exclusive status like the WalMart Brody and Darby.
How would you feel about the figure count going down? Are BAFs something you'd like from Jazwares? Will we ever get our Captain Insano??? What do you all think?

This idea works in theory except for retailers want Mox, Jericho, etc. on shelves so we would be getting even fewer new characters.

AEW sells out whatever they put out in my local shelves so I hadn't considered that being the case. I suppose you could put them out as single card releases? I know that's not necessarily the best option.

I don't have enough faith in Jazwares to think any change in their current retail business model will help us, the consumer. I think part of the issue is they make figures that no one wants because the faces don't look good/aren't appealing. I wanted to preorder Unrivaled 16's Austin & Cultin Gunn, but I waited for them to get in people's hands and wait for photos, they look rough. I think they will end up being peg warmers, which will cause the inventory to stagnate in retail stores.
I don't trust Jazwares to do BAF, because I could see them short packing the figure that come with the head of the BAF, creating "Chases within a Chase". Meanwhile many of us will end up with headless torsos.
I think the easiest way for any AEW collector is to go with RSC or other online retailers. Don't try to hunt at retail if you don't have to. Just buy what you want online and know you're going to get it.

In my opinion. Each wave should have 6 figures with 1 chase and 1 rare being 1 of the 6 from the wave in a different attire. Have 7/8 different people in the line makes it muddy. Takeshita, Reynolds, Cutler should all just be Jazwares Vault figures that have to reach x amount before being confirmed. I’d gladly pay $29.99 for a vault single release of a figure they don’t want to release at retail.
