ROH 10/5 Results

I was there live, and on show notes alone, here's my view.

Albright, Pearce, Whitmer and Hagadorn play their roles very well. With the first three selling well the intimidation factor with the referee.

As for the match, I'd hate to say it, but... the worst opening match I've seen. The beating down of Cross was really well done, but other-wise a very forgettable, one purpose match. The purpose wasn't to cement the Resilence as a dead seal, even if that's considerable, the purpose was two of the now seems like many factions.

Whitmer vs Delirious wasn't bad, though I expected more. It was alright. The highlight truly was the "MR KENNEDY" and "STEVE CORINO" chants. Since well, Whitmer now shares those resembelences. Strangely enough. I'm not slightly more tolerant of that man. Though that does nothing to make you interested in the match.

The AOTF promo was impossible to translate, but I will say I love their entrances scream track(). The most note-worthy thing here was that Mark Briscoe showed up and got taken out with ease, dragged to the back, and wasn't seen or heard from during the show afterward.

Tyler Black got in a brawl with Jay, that lead to the later brawl with Necro. They brawled through towards and out the entrance. So Tyler didn't compete in the 4 way. The match was changed to a triple threat. This became the first really good match of the show.

Hallowicked might be on the losing end, but he was well represented in this match, personally looking better than Generico. Obviously less than Nigel.. This match is worth checking out if you buy the dvd.

"Chris Is Awesome" and he's easily not a well paid jobber, because why else would he and Sweeney get the mic time they do? Like someone at the ROH boards I think posted; "The mystique about Sweet and Sour Inc is how they're built, for instance Hero being the best in the world, yet he loses the high stakes matches...." I think the faction has a unique direction.

Hero through some sick punches in this one, souds similar to a coconut being cracked open. Seriously, the antics were fun, the match was no disappointment. But if you don't like antics that take away from the match, you'll be slightly disappointed.

That and the uppercut I believe was a roaring uppercut, but I can't honestly remember.

Briscoe vs Necro: Think about it, really. Seriously, I missed the "real match" but I'm happy I got a preview of what I unknowingly would miss out on. This was a good, but relatively short, brawl. It was fun if you enjoy the Necro being Necro.

Jimmy is using the Guillotine Choke and Tyler Black's finisher is very nice. These two put on an almost perfect squash, I don't mind Tyler Black, so long as he's an entity and not a loner.

Aries vs Danielson was a great technical affair, but not a 30 or 60 minute one, however great mat wrestling and hold for hold, counter for counter. It was totally old school style where both men looked impregnable.

I loved the fact Aries won, and the submission he used while also utilizing knee strikes. I seriously think it's hard not to be sold on seeing this match.

The Match of the Night, IMO. This may have been a spotfest, but it solidified to me that the Vulture Squad aren't just legit, but a force that should only grow stronger. I can't believe how well those three worked in a precise manner. They won the match and rightfully so, I loved what Ruckus could do just on hype and no prior exposure. Jigsaw definitely is gonna be the benfitiary of this group. He's a great coup for Jack.

As for the main event, outside of tweeners, has Morishima ever faced a fellow heel? I loved Steen's working on the legs and really I'll probably enjoy this as much as any Steen fan, but not as well as any body huge on ROH matches being vastly well thought out.

I think Steen vs Morishima is light years behind the last title match I seen in person, Nigel-Mori I. But it was nice to see Steen displayed as a credit single's competitor. I expected disention within the ranks when Wl Generico, the generic cheerleading luchador, came to ringside.
