Not to start more panic or anything, but I had another weird pricing encounter today and I figured I'd give a heads up, especially with Wal-Mart talking about potential price hikes in the coming months.
I found the newest Greatest Hits series today in my travels, and happened across the Cody Rhodes. I had him on pre-order with Amazon, but I figured hey, here's this, so I canceled my order, tossed him in my cart, and continued with my shopping.
When I got to check out, he rang up at $29.12! Fortunately I was able to get it adjusted to the $22.97 on the hook (honestly I should have just waited and not canceled my order cause then I could have saved the hassle), but damn...if Elites are hitting $29 going forward, that might be the kick in the rear I need to curb my collecting.
Just figured I'd give y'all the heads up, seeing all the kerfuffle that just took place with that one UE Triple H. Happy huntin'!

Sounds like it sucks for you because all elites and ultimates at my local Walmarts are and have remained the same.

Big jump in price. Makes more sense to buy them loose now. Mint in box collectors will feel the pain going forward. I suppose this will trickle down to the other lines as well. Good time for a pause to reflect if we all really need multiple versions of the same figures. If they jump in price again in a few months it may just kill the hobby. I don't see many of us paying 50 bucks for Elites on ebay. I wonder if target will follow suit .

It'll be interesting to see what the post-holiday reset brings.

Worker wouldn't match the peg hook price.

Too lazy to order their own exclusives and now too lazy to throw MSRP in the system to buy the mainline stuff? Jesus.

I feel like mine never stock main-line Elites anymore so I wouldn't have any way to check this....

Found the UE Dominic and Rey Mysterio today at Walmart. Dom rang up $32.99 and Rey rang up at $39.99... Why? Who the hell knows.

I have exactly one store within quick driving distance that sells Elites and they never bother to stock the pegs.
I've been paying these prices for years now on Ringside.
Isn't going to price me out. If paying 30 dollars a piece for Elites was a dealbreaker for me I would have quit ages ago.

Scalpers ruining the pricing algorithm 😑
I expected it from Amazon but never thought Walmart in store prices would be affected by greedy 3rd party sellers. Better sort that sh*t out

4 Mattel figures are the price of a great pair of designer jeans (bought smartly on discount). I'd rather have a great pair of jeans and clothes that I'm excited to wear than any figure that sits on a shelf.
You can have both -- but the days of the $10 figure are long gone - and jeans and other things haven't increased at nearly the same rate

Walmart is not good enough at ordering/stocking to be charging that high
