I'm kinda new to the Indy scene and have a like for deathmatches (yeah I know that'll get me laughed at) but I was wondering who you think the best and worst deathmatch wrestlers are. They don't have to be still wrestling but overall what do you think. From what I've seen my best are...
~ Drake Younger
~ Necro Butcher
~ Nick Mondo
and the worst are...
~ Zandig
~ Leatherface

Jun Kasai, Jaki Numazawa, Tomoaki Honma
yeah Zandig is by no means a bad dm wrestler, with his matches called on the fly, unpredictable spots make his matches 100% better.

Leatherface was incredible in FMW, God dammit.
But, best guys in them are Drake, Necro, Takashi Sasaki, Kasai, Ito, Numazawa's pretty good, Honma took the best bumps, and Onita basically created them.

Best: Ryuji Ito Drake Younger Jun Kasai Jaki Numazawa JC Bailey (as long as he lays low on his "JC scream") Necro Butcher Worst: Nick Gage DJ Hyde Nate Hatred Hugh Rouge and the do-all-end-all of shitty death match wrestlers.. Tiger Jeet Sighn.. how this thread went on for three posts without Jeety is incredible.. He wrestled two rounds of a death match tournament and appeared in the finals and NEVER  ING BUMPED! |

Wifebeater is balls. he does basicly the same crapand is depending on opponents who are willing to take a lot of abuse. Mr. Pogo is just a slice and dice bullcrapwrestler.. then you've got Toby Klein listed under "decent". Toby is only a step below Necro in terms of pure sickness in death matches and can go just as hard. Necro Butcher versus Toby Klein from IWA Mid South King of the Death Matches 2004 wasn't called "the best North American death match ever" by many for nothing, and it wasn't just Necro in that match.. and how in the name of god can you list Abdullah Kobayashi as one of the worst? Are we talking about the same Abdullah Kobayashi? the same guy who's had DMOTY after DMOTY with Ito, Kasai, and Numazawa? I question if you've just watched a bunch of Youtube videos.. |

How can you get mad at one's opinion? And no, I dont get my fix from youtube. I have a collection of VHS tapes from Highspots with tons of deathmatches from Japan and the States. I like Abdulah Kobayashi, but I don't like his presentation..... In almost all his matches except his Fire wall match in Tokyo with Zandig, You can predict everything he was setting up. |
