Ring of Honor champion Nigel McGuinness is suffering from a biceps injury that will be examined and diagnosed this week. Right now, the hope is that the injury won't turn out to be serious but the worst case scenario seems to be McGuinness missing a few months following surgery. Right now, the belief is the injury isn't serious and that he'll be OK with rest and some physical therapy. The company is going to be careful and if they need to pull him from working Glory by Honor weekend in Philadelphia and New York City, they will as they'd rather he miss one set of shows and rehab, then come back focused and 100%. Once the promotion gets a better idea on McGuinness' status, they may need to shuffle the deck and change some scheduled lineups. I am under the impression that unless he'll be out of the ring for an extended period, Nigel's ROH title reign is safe.
Ring of Honor's West Coast trip most likely wasn't profitable as they were caught in the tailspin of the Wrestlefanfest fiasco, drawing only 350 to San Francisco. ROH officials actually met with the Cow Palace when they arrived in California in order to insure that they'd be able to run, since the company mindset is to always run no matter what because the worst case scenario is they'll always have the DVD to sell. Believe it or not, the company hasn't ruled out a return to the West Coast since the crowds, while small, were so energetic and into the product and if they were running on their own, obviously things would be done differently.
Of all the West Coast talents that debuted for the company, PWG and WSX star Human Tornado seemed to have made the biggest impression as he's been booked for 11/30 in Dayton, Ohio and 12/1 in Chicago. Gabe Sapolsky said that he really liked Tornado's character. Karl Anderson, TJ Perkins and Tony Kozina were also said to have done well, but the company doesn't have the right spots for them right now and they aren't going to be brought in until they can be used properly.
Mark Briscoe's dislocated foot is still healing and the promotion decided to just have him work ringside in California after he returned to the ring in Las Vegas as a precautionary measure. He's expected to work Glory by Honor weekend.
There was some confusion over Ruckus working 11/3 in New York City but he'll be there as scheduled according to Gabe Sapolsky.
Guests backstage in California included Scott Norton, Daniel Puder, 1980s WWF star The Tonga Kid/Tama and The Blue Meanie. Puder in particular watched the entire show.
ROH has sold all out of their ringside and floor seats for the 11/3 New York City return, headlined by Mitsuharu Misawa vs. KENTA, so if you intend to attend that show, don't wait to buy the day of the show.
If the injury is worse than expected, I hope Nigel won't be out too long. I'm enjoying his title run so far.
