I got my filthy hands on Driven last night, great event. But what I really enjoyed was the bonus match between Bryan Danielson and KENTA. It's one of the best matches I've ever seen, and very worthy of match of the year. Since it was taped with the rest of the show, why didn't the match make the air, instead of Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuiness?
Bare with me, I'm still pretty new to ROH.

As far as I know it was just taped for the DVD so for the people who ordered the Driven PPV would have a reason to purchase the master by being able to see that bonus match along with the others that weren't on the PPV.

To expand on the previous reply, it is because the Danielson/McGuinness match was a number one contendership match. It played to the ongoing story arc for the PPVs.
PPV 1 - Danielson and McGuinness are shown as the two top contenders for the ROH Title.
PPV 2 - Danielson and McGuinness wrestle for a number one contender's shot
PPV 3 - Danielson gets his World Title show, McGuinness wins a match that puts him in line for a shot
PPV 4 - Nigel gets his World Title shot.
KENTA does not appear on the third or fourth PPV and likely will not be on the fifth one either, however Danielson and McGuinness are going to be on all of them. KENTA does not play into the overall ongoing story arc on PPV with the World Title, therefore his match with Danielson does not fit on PPV. However, a match between Danielson and KENTA was set to take place at the 6/23 Chicago event (known as Driven), and it followed a different storyline that had played out during 2006 with the rivalry between KENTA and Danielson. It was a match to finish their rivalry, one that was not meant to be explored on PPV.
I hope that clears it up.

I know Gabe had a LONG back story to it, as it has something to do with the original plan to not have the 2nd PPV in Chicago at that time, but things went so well with the first they fast tracked to the second. I'll see if I can find the story somewhere

Gabe's booking strat as far as I know was that he semi wanted to incorporate the established guys in the PPV stories that were always going to be in ROH or at least domestic wise where as having KENTA be a part might have been a problem as far as sharing time with NOAH.
