I am sorry if this is a rather large request, but I was wondering if anyone has any sites (other than wikipedia; already checked there) that can give me a condensed history on Japanese Wrestling. My interest has been sparked recently after playing Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, as well as watching NOAH's 2006 Spring Navigation DVD. I guess ROH's bringing in of Japanese talents has got me curious, as well.
As it is now, I already have a basic understanding of Japanese wrestling. I am on a familiar basis with big name stars (Misawa, Kobashi, Kawada, Akiyama, Giant Baba, Inoki, Tsuruta, etc. and American stars such as Hansen, Gordy, Williams, Vader, etc.), and the major companies. I would really like to know what matches make for essential viewing to polish my knowledge of their interpretation of pro wrestling, as well as how things like the Triple Crown came about, how the major companies formed, what the 'splits' are about, and basically any important events starting from the start of pro wrestling in Japan up until today.
I know many of you here are extremely knowledgeable about this topic, so I was really hoping to get some help here, as I have genuinely enjoyed the little bit of wrestling from there that I have seen. Just to recap, I'm basically looking to learn anything I can about Japanese wrestling, important matches, historic title changes/events, wrestlers, anything. Help would be greatly appreciated, and will be rewarded with karma, if that's what you're into.
Thanks guys.

try DVDVR (deathvalleydriver.com), they have an extensive puro sub-board with experts; there are certain people that just worship the stuff and they can really answer some questions for you
also check out some topics made by the member "Ditch" over there; he has some websites that could help you out big time. if you need further help, PM me (or Dean or ICONS or Tazmission or any number of us that watch Puro)

Here's something for you to take in, being new to Puro: 1975-2000 AJPW is the best era of Puroresu ever. Why? Vader, Hansen, Brody, Gordy, Williams, The Funks, Billy Robinson, Bockwinkel, Flair, Von Erich, Tsuruta, Baba, Tenryu, Misawa, Kobashi, Taue, Akiyama, Takayama. Those list of guys OWNS all to any other era of Japanese wrestling. No friggin' argument, AJPW in that era is the best puro ever. And if you want links to download some Japanese wrestling...PM me for my MSN.

I downloaded a HUSTLE show recently. It's like WWE but more entertaining. Who can deny the battle between a Monster Army and HUSTLE led by HG?

That's who I thought you meant.. Dynamite Kid was more a NJPW junior. He had a very short run with AJPW in the late 80s and was moreorless a tag wrestler the whole way through.

Thanks a lot man, those sites are actually pretty cool. I'm aware that it's not easy learning the entire history of wrestling in Japan, but I'm taking it a little at a time. You've all been a big help; I've started watching some AJPW from the 80's and 90's. I really liked Hansen and Gordy vs The Funks, and Slater/Race vs Baba/Jumbo, as well as Kobashi vs Kawada. I've been watching a few NOAH matches as well, namely Kobashi vs Marufuji, Morishima vs KENTA, and Morishima vs Misawa. All have been really enjoyable.

Hunt down the Dynamite Kid/Tiger Mask series. Truely ahead of their time. They're from New Japan.
