I think it gets used too much here in the states by indy guys. Over in Japan though I'm not real sure. I see it every once in a while, but cant remember anyone who uses it over & over as a finisher

To answer the question, yes it is. We need a weight limit, people only 250 and up can use it.

To answer the question, yes it is. We need a weight limit, people only 250 and up can use it. That's ing intellectually- disabled. Marufuji's, KENTA's Roaring Lariat, and Nigel's are all ing awesome. It's okay when used as a transition spot. It's not different than saying any other finisher is over-used...it's based on the number of people that use the move, not the weight of them.

The collar and elbow tie up is over used. First thing that came to my mind was a hammerlock...

The collar and elbow tie up is over used. First thing that came to my mind was a hammerlock... I'd say arm drags and hip tosses are overused. Oh and 250lbs to do a lariat? Why not say nobody goes for aerial offense at over 250lbs? I can somehow gets the argument of a guy like Homicide, but that doesn't mean big dudes are the only ones to hit it the hardest.

Running strikes are more about momentum than size. ing Bob Sanders, Colts saftey, hits as hard as any linebacker in the league. 'Cause he hits you at double the speed of a LB. So a guy like Homicide could pull off a lariat, he has enough momentum. It's just a matter of how many people randomly do one.

It is used alot in the indies, but most of the time it isn't a finisher, and they usually look kinda crappy. And for those saying it is overused in puro, you are dead wrong! But you have to admit, Danielson made Cide's lariat look devastating at Final Battle 06.

Actually a "Lariat" is rarely used in ROH. They call it a lariat, but it's just a clothesline. A Lariat, is a clothesline thrown with the left arm. Everytime so far I have seen a "Lariat" being thrown in ROH, it's been right handed.

You're crazy. The most known guys who have done the lariat have used it with their left arm.

That's what I have always been told was the difference between a lariat and a clothesline, was clothesline is with the right, and lariat was the left. It's actually on some web sites too I have seen. I don't think it's anything big though, because I hear clotheslines being called lariats all of the time, so I dont know???
