maybe hitting your opponent until they're forced to release it; other than that, getting to the ropes
but I don't know if there's a way to counter it into a move because your body is so tied up

You could possibly roll over on the side where you leg isn't being trapped up. I'm not saying that would immediately break the hold, but it could give you some needed leverage for an attempt.
