dont know where else to post this. I plan on going to wrestling school after high school, maybe with jr. college on the side. If I find out wrestling is my thing, Ill go after it. If not, I go to college and try something else.
Any good wrestling school out there?

Check out CHIKARA Wrestle Factory. It's an obvious choice really. Some of the best in the world training, Head trainers in Quack & Hero, part time trainers like Claudio and I think El Pantera. It also teaches all styles. It's really probably the best choice.

It all depends on what kind of career you're actually looking for. I recently read an article with a bunch of different schools and really that's what it boils down to. Every school teaches you something different so look into it and see which fits you best. Chikara is a good school that will teach you a ton of styles but you might get a gimmick where you will never be taken seriously. Then there's the ROH school, they really don't have any note worthy students and none of them have really made anything of them self but at the same time if you go there you can say you work for the top indy promotion in America.
However if you're planning on some day wanting to go to WWE then you might wanna look into other schools like WXW which is the school of the Wild Samoans and they have connections with WWE and many graduates who have made it to the WWE. However you have to remember your chances of making it to WWE are pretty slim or less you are 6'4 and weigh about 300 lbs.

California has a lot of schools, it just depends which part North or South of Cali. www.upw.com they are looked at by WWE often. |

I wouldn't bother with the CHIKARA and ROH schools. All the CHIKARA students get lumbered with silly gimmicks and never seem to get anywhere else, and the ROH students have been doing the pre-show for years and never seem to get anywhere else. Really? Quack, Hero, Claudio, Jigsaw, Hallowicked, Kingston and Akuma all get steady work and are booked prominently with ROH. Quack is highly regarded as one of the best in the world. Claudio once had a WWE contract and will certainly be making a move to the E in the near future. Kingston is highly regarded as a great striker and is praised amongst the indy scene. Deano....I think you are way off base. While some of the students do get some fun gimmicks that wouldnt translate into "being taken serious".........they still get solid work. Look at a guy like Delirious. He has already worked TNA, works solidly with ROH and has been looked at by the E to bring in. Cabanna had a goofy gimmick and yet he signed to the E. Also, the students do have some way in on what their gimmick is. They arent all Ice cream or ants. But those ants do kick some serious ass. If you really want to learn how to become a true professional wrestler......the Chikara Wrestle Factory is by far the #1 school in North America. Both Edge and Christian have given it high praise and have recommended it to anyone they have encountered that have aspirations to get into pro wrestling. Also, with Quack as a trainer and mentor.......you will be safe in the knowledge that he can easily help you get bookings all over the world. |

It just seems that, apart from a few obvious exceptions, students that come through a wrestling school that is associated with a promotion never seem to get far anywhere else. I would definately recommend a school that is more independant, than one that is connected to a promotion. |

For all intents and purposes Chikara's school hasnt been around that long and look at the list of stars they have produced on the indy circuit....not too mention guys who get steady work just cuz promoters know they will get a solid worker from Quack. Yes, Quack is a trainer......but I am just trying to support the idea that those coming from Chikara dont all have funny gimmicks. How many other schools can say they have produced a half a dozen solid workers.....thats like 1 for every year the school has been opened. |

"Sweet and Sour" Larry Sweeney and referee Bryce Remsburg are also Chikara grads. Sweeney is one of the most booked up and comers out there, and Bryce is by far one of the best indy refs around.

What about if you wanted to go into hardcore wrestling, such as some CZW and IWA M-S? |
