I didnt see this posted surprisngly San Juan, Puerto Rico (September 1, 2007) - In a heated battle, "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce captured the vacant NWA™ Worlds Heavyweight Championship in a match against tournament finalist "Shooter" Brent Albright. The match did not end without controversy as assigned IWA Official Jose Vasquez had been previously eliminated by a inadvertent closeline from Albright causing Special Enforcer "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson to assume in ring referee duties. The match ended after Albright superplexed Pearce from the top rope, and both men's feet became entangled. Danielson counted three and called for the bell, although it was unclear whose shoulders Danielson had counted down. Upon taking the belt from NWA™ Executive Director Robert K. Trobich, fans in attendance seemed certain that Danielson would hand the "famous 10 lbs of gold" to Albright, instead he awarded the title to Pearce and informing Albright that it was in fact his shoulders that were down. In the end, Pearce and Manager C. Edward Vanderpyle started celebrating and Vanderpyle gave us this comment: "There's a hurricane outside. Its hot. Its nasty and none of that matters cause we didn't come to this island for a vacation. We came to get the job done and thats what we did. Destiny has been achieved." Credit: nwawrestling.com I would have preferred Brent Albright winning it but I assume when Danielson comes back from injury he'll win it from Pearce.

Yeah, when Danielson returns he'll probably win this title.

That sucks, as an OWV mark, that would have been awesome to see Brent take the belt (not to mention, if he hadnt gotten hurt, Danielson vs Albright would have kicked all kinds of ass) Im sure theyll have a match in the future though

Pearce is not scheduled to lose the belt anytime soon as he and the people in charge of the NWA are pretty tight. Plus Pearce will be able to make a lot of bookings across the globe because ROH does not book him every show.

With guys like Claudio and Albright in the tournament......somehow Perace gets the belt. The NWA has officially lost its wrestling mind.

And seeing as he was the replacement for Danielson, it's kinda a gimme that Bryan would have won. So maybe Danielson won't take the belt off of him first time they meet, but it's only a matter of time before Danielson wins it.

I suppose if anyone from Pennsylvania was in the tournament they should have won right? Pearce is the perfect throwback NWA Champ. He can wrestle and cut heel promos. The NWA rarely had babyface champs, and this is no difference. Pearce is not scheduled to lose the belt anytime soon as he and the people in charge of the NWA are pretty tight. Whatt the hell does PA have to do with this? This is about an average worker named Adam Pearce.

Clearly, you don't know wrestling if you think Pearce is an average worker. Ahh, I see, well best of luck to Adam, I love his promos and he is decent in the ring, no problem with him, would have liked to see maybe Albright instead but Pearce is good. I'd have had no problem with ALBRIGHT either, but Pearce is available for the most dates to help build the title back up. ALBRIGHT will be back with NOAH and ROH as well as possible dates with IWA Mid-South so it will be tough for open dates.

Thats the most illogical assumption I have heard in a long time.

So who would be in the running at this point, like who will be his first opponent?

Damn, that belt is tiny, Its almost an exact replica of the NWA fig belt. Funny TNA must have kept the one they made.

If I am correct, there is only one NWA Title, so the one TNA used is also the one in this picture. I may be wrong though. I can almost guarantee that they are the same size though if they are not the same belt.

This is brilliant. Pearce will be a great old-school champ, no doubt.
